Background Although minimally invasive surgical techniques have reduced intraoperative bleeding, the risk of transfusion exists. However, few studies evaluated factors for in radical hysterectomy. We aimed to evaluate association between preoperative red cell distribution width/albumin ratio (RDW/albumin) and cervical cancer patients. Methods analyzed 907 patients who underwent hysterectomy June 2006 February 2015. Logistic regression Cox analyses were performed determine mortality at 5-year...

Abstract This study was aimed to evaluate the efficiency of a new mesh‐type nebulizer for intrapulmonary delivery ipratropium bromide in surgical patients under mechanical ventilation. A total 20 were randomly allocated receive 0.5 mg using either control (Pariboy SX , Pari, Co., Starnberg, Germany, n = 10) or test ( NE ‐ SM 1 NEPLUS KTMED INC., Seoul, Korea, during general anaesthesia. Ipratropium nebulized continuously min. each group. Plasma concentrations obtained from blood samples at...

Pneumothorax during general anesthesia is more difficult to diagnose compared with that of non-anesthetized patient. Furthermore, the early diagnosis pneumothorax some extent due CO2-pneumoperitoneum laparoscopic surgery. The use ultrasonography has increased in a variety situations, demonstrating better diagnostic rate than conventional chest radiography. Here, we report two cases intraoperative capnothorax were confirmed using M-mode "lung point" sign. However, insertion tube could have...

Background Although ultrasonography is recommended in internal jugular vein (IJV) catheterization, the landmark-guided technique should still be considered. The central landmark using two heads of sternocleidomastoid muscle widely used, but it inaccurate for IJV access. As an alternative landmark, we investigated accuracy new determined by inspection respiratory venodilation and direct palpation right access ultrasonography. Methods Findings Thirty patients were enrolled. After induction...

Cerebral air embolism is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication. We experienced living-donor liver transplant recipient who presented with unexpected cerebral and transient neurologic abnormalities that subsequently developed just after the removal of pulmonary artery catheter from central venous access device. One day initial event, patient's status gradually improved. The patient was discharged 30 days transplantation without sequelae.

There are few studies between postoperative neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and survival in cervical cancer. We compared changes NLR according surgical methods analyzed the effect of these on 5-year mortality cancer patients. A total 929 patients were assigned either laparoscopic radical hysterectomy (LRH) (n = 721) or open (ORH) 208) group. Propensity score matching analysis two groups, multivariate logistic regression evaluated association mortality. Surgical outcomes groups also...

Although nasogastric tube insertion is routinely indicated in patients undergoing abdominal surgery, of a anesthetized and intubated associated with failure rate ~50% during the first attempt has been cause delays beginning surgery [1,2]. In this respect, various techniques had traditionally proposed to facilitate insertion, including use slit endotracheal tube, lateral neck pressure, head flexion, gloved finger steering, Magill forceps. More recently, esophageal guidewires...

The neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet (PLR), and red cell distribution width (RDW) have been reported as useful biomarkers for evaluating inflammation a predictor of surgical prognosis. Although there recent reports that transfusion may affect inflammatory responses, studies on the post-transfusion response in parturients are rare. Therefore, this study aimed observe changes after during cesarean section (C-sec) through NLR, PLR, RDW.Parturients aged 20-50 years who underwent...
