High-dimensional DNA methylation markers may mediate pathways linking environmental exposures with health outcomes. However, there is a lack of analytical methods to identify significant mediators for high-dimensional mediation analysis.Based on sure independent screening and minimax concave penalty techniques, we use joint significance test effect. We demonstrate its practical performance using Monte Carlo simulation studies apply this method investigate the extent which causal pathway from...

Cardiovascular health (CVH) from young adulthood is strongly associated with an individual's future risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and total mortality. Defining epigenomic biomarkers lifelong CVH exposure understanding their roles in CVD development may help develop preventive therapeutic strategies for CVD.

In this paper, a numerical method of two-dimensional (2D) integro-differential equation with two fractional Riemann–Liouville (R-L) integral kernels is investigated. The compact difference employed in the spatial direction. terms are approximated by second-order convolution quadrature formula. alternating direction implicit (ADI) scheme reduces CPU time for problems. Simultaneously, stability and convergence proposed ADI demonstrated. Finally, examples provided to verify established scheme.

Glutathione-capped Pd nanoparticles with a size of 1.4-3.5 nm are facilely synthesized for peroxidase nanomimetics. The molar ratio [Na2PdCl4]/[GSH] greatly affects the physicochemical properties including particle sizes, surface charge states and enzymatic activities. most efficient Pd-based nanozyme, consisting approximately 57% metallic Pd(0) species an average diameter 2.6 nm, exhibits K(m) value 0.068 mM toward 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine 156 hydrogen peroxide. Ag(+) selectively...

High temperature has adverse effects on rice growth by inhibiting the flag leaf photosynthetic and antioxidant capacity, which can be alleviated various exogenous chemicals such as spermidine (Spd). However, role of Spd in conferring heat tolerance is not well documented. Conventional japonica varieties Wuyunjing 24 Ningjing 3 were treated with high temperatures at 37.5/27.0°C (day/night) foliar sprayed 1 mmol L−1 after flowering. Results showed activities superoxide dismutase (SOD)...

The optimum timing to wean is crucial avoid negative outcomes for mechanically ventilated patients. rapid shallow breathing index (RSBI), a widely used weaning index, has limitations in predicting outcomes. By replacing the tidal volume of RSBI with diaphragmatic excursion (DE) and diaphragm thickening fraction (DTF) assessed by ultrasonography, we calculated two indices, (DE-RSBI, respiratory rate [RR]/DE) (DTF-RSBI, RR/DTF). aim this study was evaluate predictive values DTF-RSBI, DE-RSBI...

Mediation analysis has become a prevalent method to identify causal pathway(s) between an independent variable and dependent through intermediate variable(s). However, little work been done when the variables (mediators) are high-dimensional outcome is survival endpoint. In this paper, we introduce novel potential mediators in framework of Cox regression.

With the growing availability of large-scale biomedical data, it is often time-consuming or infeasible to directly perform traditional statistical analysis with relatively limited computing resources at hand. We propose a fast subsampling method effectively approximate full data maximum partial likelihood estimator in Cox’s model, which largely reduces computational burden when analyzing massive survival data. establish consistency and asymptotic normality general subsample-based estimator....

Abstract To ensure privacy protection and alleviate computational burden, we propose a fast subsmaling procedure for the Cox model with massive survival datasets from multi-centered, decentralized sources. The proposed estimator is computed based on optimal subsampling probabilities that derived enables transmission of subsample-based summary level statistics between different storage sites only one round communication. For inference, asymptotic properties were rigorously established. An...

Abstract Background Mammographic breast density (MBD), a strong predictor of cancer, is highly influenced by body mass index (BMI) in childhood and early adulthood, but the mechanisms underlying these associations are not fully understood. Our goal to identify biomarkers that mediate BMI at ages 10 18 with MBD premenopausal women. Methods This study consists 705 women who had their screening mammogram Washington University St. Louis, MO, provided fasting blood sample. comprehensive...
