Background— Acute coronary syndrome is a leading cause of death in developed countries. Follistatin-like 1 (FSTL1) myocyte-derived secreted protein that upregulated the heart response to ischemic insult. Here, we investigated therapeutic impact FSTL1 on acute cardiac injury small and large preclinical animal models ischemia/reperfusion dissected its molecular mechanism. Rationale: Physical exercise provides benefits for various organ systems, and some of systemic effects are mediated through modulation muscle-derived secreted factors, also known as myokines. Myonectin/C1q (complement component 1q)/TNF (tumor necrosis factor)-related protein 15/erythroferrone is a myokine that upregulated in skeletal muscle blood by exercise. Objective: We investigated the role myonectin myocardial ischemic injury. Methods Results: Ischemia-reperfusion myonectin-knockout...

Obesity is a major risk factor for the development of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Adipose tissue secretes various bioactive molecules, referred to as adipokines, whose dysregulation can mediate changes in glucose homeostasis inflammatory responses. Here, we identify C1qdc2/CTRP12 an insulin-sensitizing adipokine that abundantly expressed by fat tissues designate this adipolin (adipose-derived factor). Adipolin expression adipose plasma was reduced rodent models obesity. also...

Obesity is closely associated with the progression of vascular disorders, including atherosclerosis and postangioplasty restenosis. C1q/TNF-related protein (CTRP) 9 an adipocytokine that down-regulated in obese mice. Here we investigated whether CTRP9 modulates neointimal hyperplasia smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation vivo vitro. Left femoral arteries wild-type (WT) mice were injured by a steel wire. An adenoviral vector expressing (Ad-CTRP9) or β-galactosidase as control was...

Obesity is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. C1q/tumor necrosis factor-related protein 9 (CTRP9) an adipokine that downregulated by obesity. We investigated the role of CTRP9 in cardiac injury with loss-of-function genetic manipulations and defined receptor-mediated signaling pathway downstream this adipokine. CTRP9-knockout (CTRP9-KO) mice at age 12 weeks were indistinguishable from wild-type (WT) under basal conditions. CTRP9-KO had exacerbated contractile left ventricle...

Obesity is associated with the development of atherosclerosis. We previously demonstrated that omentin a circulating adipokine downregulated in association atherosclerotic diseases. Here, we examined impact on atherosclerosis gain-of-function genetic manipulations and dissected its potential mechanism. Apolipoprotein E-deficient (apoE-KO) mice were crossed transgenic expressing human gene (OMT-Tg) fat tissue to generate apoE-KO/OMT-Tg mice. ApoE-KO/OMT-Tg exhibited significant reduction...

It is well-established that exercise diminishes cardiovascular risk, but whether humoral factors secreted by muscle confer these benefits has not been conclusively shown. We have shown the protein follistatin-like 1 (Fstl1) beneficial actions on cardiac and endothelial function. However, role of muscle-derived Fstl1 in proliferative vascular disease remains largely unknown. Here, we investigated modulates remodelling response to injury. The targeted ablation led an increase neointimal...

Heart disease contributes to the progression of CKD. tissue produces a number secreted proteins, also known as cardiokines, which participate in intercellular and intertissue communication. Starch forms transparent grains, referred to as starch grains (SGs), in amyloplasts. Despite the simple glucose polymer composition of starch, SGs exhibit different morphologies depending on plant species, especially endosperm family Poaceae. In previous comprehensive work, SG Poaceae were classified into four types: compound bimodal uniform and a mixed configuration comprised grains. these observations, phylogenetic relationships among types remained unclear. this report, we analyzed...
