Tenomodulin (Tnmd) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed in tendons and ligaments. We found that scleraxis (Scx), member of the Twist-family basic helix-loop-helix transcription factors, transcriptional activator Tnmd expression tenocytes. During embryonic development, Scx preceded Tnmd. was nearly absent ligaments Scx-deficient mice generated by activator-like effector nucleases-mediated gene disruption. mRNA levels were dramatically decreased during serial...

Age-related sarcopenia constitutes an important health problem associated with adverse outcomes. Sarcopenia is closely fat infiltration in muscle, which attributable to interstitial mesenchymal progenitors. Mesenchymal progenitors are nonmyogenic nature but required for homeostatic muscle maintenance. However, the underlying mechanism of progenitor-dependent maintenance not clear, nor precise role sarcopenia. Here, we show that mice genetically engineered specifically deplete exhibited...

Abstract Scleraxis (Scx) is a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor that expressed persistently in tendons/ligaments, but transiently entheseal cartilage. In this study, we generated novel Scx Cre knock-in (KI) allele, by in-frame replacement of most exon 1 with recombinase (Cre ), to drive expression using promoter and inactivate the endogenous . Reflecting intensity duration expression, Cre-mediated excision occurs tendinous ligamentous tissues expressing Expression tenomodulin,...

The periodontal ligament (PDL) is a mechanosensitive noncalcified fibrous tissue connecting the cementum of tooth and alveolar bone. Here, we report that scleraxis (Scx) osterix (Osx) antagonistically regulate tensile force-responsive PDL fibrogenesis osteogenesis. In developing PDL, Scx was induced during eruption co-expressed with Osx. highly expressed in elongated fibroblastic cells aligned along collagen fibers, whereas Osx perialveolar/apical osteogenic cells. an experimental model...

Mixtures of the protic ionic liquids trioctylammonium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)amide ([TOAH][NTf2]) and nitrate ([TOAH][NO3]) were investigated as extractants for platinum-group elements. The mixture 10 wt % [TOAH][NO3] in [TOAH][NTf2] has low viscosity (274.2 mPa s) aqueous solubility (2.6 × 10–5 mol dm–3 cation). With liquid mixture, Pd(II) Pt(IV) extracted almost quantitatively from 0.10 hydrochloric acid. Under same conditions, Na(I), Mg(II), K(I), Ca(II), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II),...

Adult skeletal muscle has a remarkable ability to regenerate. Regeneration of mature fibers is dependent on stem cells called satellite cells. Although they are normally in quiescent state, rapidly activated after injury, and subsequently proliferate differentiate make new fibers. Myogenesis highly orchestrated biological process been extensively studied, therefore many parameters that can precisely evaluate regenerating events have established. However, some cases, it necessary the...

Macrophages are key regulators of skeletal muscle regeneration, yet the specific macrophage subpopulations responsible for this process and their cell-cell interactions remain insufficiently understood, as does mechanism underlying age-related impairment regeneration. We utilized single-cell RNA sequencing to identify transcriptionally distinct within from young (8-week-old) aged (24-month-old) mice.
