Abstract In alkali chlorides heavily doped with Cu + ions, CuCl microcrystals of different sizes are grown under heat treatments. Their size and shape studied using small‐angle X‐ray scattering. A clear correlation is established between the microcrystal blue shift exciton luminescence peak. The quantum effect on discussed. confinement, that is, restriction translational motion in one‐dimensional wells found to be rather plausible for crystalline matrices.
Abstract Exciton luminescence spectra in CuCl, CuBr, and CuI microcrystals of a few nm size which are embedded alkali‐halide matrices studied under selective excitation at the exciton absorption bands inhomogeneously broadened by distribution. The size‐quantized states found to split into various components. From analysis splitting on basis size‐quantization translational motion thin platelets, Z 3 mass, Luttinger parameters, k ‐linear terms for 1,2 excitons derived these compounds.
Post-operative ileus (PI) is an inevitable adverse consequence of abdominal surgical procedures. We performed a randomized study the effects herbal medicine dai-kenchu-to (DKT) on 24 patients with PI. Patients received either 15 g oral DKT or placebo daily for 14 days. The upper gastrointestinal motility, frequency secondary operation and recurrence PI were investigated. was significantly lower in receiving compared placebo. Oral administration clinically effective reducing both need further surgery
We report the first evidence of an excitonic polaron and exciton-phonon complexes in nanosize semiconductor crystals. These are observed CuCl nanocrystal luminescence spectra under resonant size-selective excitation. The theory exciton coupling with spherical phonons through Fr\"ohlich deformation potentials is developed describes both size dependence binding energy degree hybridization near resonance, when $1P$ $1S$ level spacing coincides one- or two-phonon energy.
In order to operate an "improved" Fourier synthesis imager at higher photon energies than are accessible with solid-state detectors, we developed a new one-dimensional <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$gamma$</tex> -ray position sensor consisting of inorganic scintillators whose light is read out by silicon strip detector (SSD). The SSD through stripped p-electrodes (DC-coupled, 32 channels 400...
CD4/8 status has been previously reported to be a critical factor in the prognosis of oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). In current study, we investigated effect regulatory T cells (Treg; Foxp3+ lymphocytes) on CD4+ and CD8+ 122 patients with OSCC. Immunohistochemical analysis Treg was performed using an antibody against Foxp3. The survival rate for low Foxp3 significantly lower than high (P=0.0028 by log-rank test), but did not correlate CD4/8(+/+) or CD4/8(+/-) (-/+) (P=0.5185...
The $^{22}$Ne($\alpha$,n)$^{25}$Mg reaction is the dominant neutron source for slow capture process ($s$-process) in massive stars and contributes, together with $^{13}$C($\alpha$,n)$^{16}$O, to production of neutrons $s$-process Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) stars. However, endothermic competes directly $^{22}$Ne($\alpha,\gamma)^{26}$Mg radiative capture. uncertainties both reactions are large owing uncertainty level structure $^{26}$Mg near alpha separation energies. These affecting...
Laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery (LECS) is a beneficial procedure that enables minimal resection of the gastric wall because tumor can be located endoscopically. However, it not indicated for epithelial tumors risk peritoneal dissemination. Therefore, we devised new LECS technique, known as sealed full-thickness (sealed EFTR), in which serosa was with silicone sheet to prevent escape contents cells. The aims this study were evaluate safety feasibility newly developed observe...

New possibilities have been investigated for recently developed solid-state tunable ultraviolet (UV) laser materials such as Ce/sup 3+/ ion-activated LuLiF/sub 4/ (LLF) and LiCaAlF/sub 6/ (LiCAF). With their broad-gain width, demonstrated reliability, high efficiency, they are attractive ultrashort pulse generation amplification. To prove that, we UV picosecond-pulse amplification using Ce:LLF. For new materials, proposed a passive self-injection seeding scheme the direct of short-pulse...
SUMMARY Keratinocyte cytotoxicity is an important component of the immunopathology photosensitive lupus erythematosus, and antibody-dependent cell-mediated (ADCC) has been shown to be mechanism by which autoantibodies, especially those specific for SS-A/Ro, can induce keratinocyte damage in models lupus. We provide further evidence that keratinocytes from patients with show significantly greater ultraviolet radiation (UVR)-induced cytotoxicity, ADCC these targets enhanced autologous...
Abstract In order to prepare the optimal condition for resonant optical manipulation, a lot of CuCl particles with broad size‐distribution ranging from 10 nm μm have been directly fabricated bulk sample by laser ablation in superfluid helium. We irradiated these light covering excitonic resonance levels smaller than 100 transport them onto target silicon substrate using radiation force. As result, we observed that many 50 diameters adhere substrate. This means nanoparticles are transported...
Picosecond time-resolved photoluminescence from biexcitons in CuCl quantum dots (QDs) embedded a NaCl matrix has been measured using an optical Kerr gate method. Ultrafast pulsed emission the biexciton states was observed for first time, only under resonant two-photon excitation of biexcitons. This implies that complete population inversion between and exciton is necessary order to trigger emission. In addition, nature dependence time profiles on intensity reveals peak directly proportional...
The pseudo-response regulators (PRRs) are the circadian clock component proteins in model dicot Arabidopsis thaliana. They contain a receiver-like domain (RLD) similar to receiver domains of RRs His–Asp phosphorelay system, but RLDs lack phosphoacceptor aspartic acid residue invariably conserved domains. To study evolution PRR genes plants, here we characterize their homologue genes, PpPRR1, PpPRR2, PpPRR3 and PpPRR4, from moss Physcomitrella patens. In phylogenetic analysis, PpPRRs cluster...
We successfully realized ZnCdSe quantum dots on a cleavage-induced ZnSe (110) surface by depositing ZnSe/ZnCdSe/ZnSe heterostructure under growth conditions that cannot lead to layer-by-layer of ZnSe. This mode introduces roughness the newly deposited layer, and are then formed. Cathodoluminescence microphotoluminescence measurements demonstrate formation dots.
The nonlinear thermal inactivation of Aspergillus niger spores in phosphate-citrate buffer was studied. pattern the spore consisted a shoulder, an accelerated decline, and tail at various constant temperatures around 60 degrees C. fitted thermotolerant subpopulation model. In model, we postulated that some initial population had become certain ratio during heating. model parameters including rate coefficients, time lag, existence cells were analyzed temperatures. tailing not observed...
In CuCl nanocrystals we have observed two luminescence bands associated with free and bound biexcitons in a high-density excitation at 2 K. We also observed, subpicosecond pump-and-probe measurements, an optical gain induced absorption the energy position of biexciton band, another band. The decay time change exciton was found to be about 1 ns effective radius 4.3 nm, which is times greater than that 77 Taking responses spectrum into account, it clarified dipole transition occurs between state
