Abstract Even in the setting of optimal resuscitation high-income countries severe sepsis and septic shock have a mortality 20–40%, with antibiotic resistance dramatically increasing this risk. To develop reference dataset enabling identification common bacterial targets for therapeutic intervention, we applied standardized genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic metabolomic technological framework to multiple clinical isolates four sepsis-causing pathogens: Escherichia coli , Klebsiella...

ABSTRACT We compared the diagnostic accuracy of Carba NP test with that a straightforward matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization–time flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) method for detecting carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE). Using PCR as reference method, both tests demonstrated sensitivity 87% and specificity 100%. MALDI-TOF MS offers potential alternative rapid detection CPE in clinical laboratory setting.

Considering the short shelf-life of certain food products such as red meat, there is a need for rapid and cost-effective methods pathogen detection. Routine testing in laboratories mostly relies on conventional microbiological which involve use multiple selective culture media long incubation periods, often taking up to 7 days confirmed identifications. The current study investigated application omics-based approaches, proteomics using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization...

A BSTRACT Background: Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) has remained a major global public health concern over the years due to morbidity and mortality associated with disease. The prolonged duration of drug treatment adverse reactions (ADRs) may affect compliance eventually outcome. Aim: aim this study was determine frequency ADRs in patients during MDR-TB. Materials Methods: We retrospectively reviewed medical records diagnosed MDR-TB May 2021 June 2022 completed their by December...

Foodborne pathogens and spoilage microorganisms are a source of concern for public health the food industry. Considering problem antimicrobial resistance in microbes, controlling these using synthetic antimicrobials is challenging, thus, essential oils potential natural alternative. Previous studies have predominantly focussed on activity liquid phase. However, this work we report vitro vapour phases from native Australian plants Tasmanian mountain pepper (Tasmannia lanceolata), lemon myrtle...

Abstract Suspensions of solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) stabilized with emulsifiers have been extensively investigated (since the 1990s) as drug carriers, although details their ultrastructure are poorly defined. Previously, a novel microwave‐assisted microemulsion‐based technique to prepare SLNs was reported. To understand detailed internal structure these SLNs, ultra‐small angle neutron scattering (USANS) and small (SANS) experiments conducted on suspensions hydrogenated stearic acid...

The ability of bacteria to form biofilms and the emergence antibiotic-resistant strains have prompted need develop next generation antibacterial coatings. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are showing promise as molecules that can address these issues, especially if used when immobilized a surface coating. We present method explores how patterns together with selective immobilization an AMP called PuroA (FPVTWRWWKWWKG-NH2) be both kill also tool study bacterial attachment mechanisms. Surface...
