Nasal polyps and inverted papillomas often look similar. Clinically, it is difficult to distinguish the masses by endoscopic examination. Therefore, in this study, we aimed develop a deep learning algorithm for computer-aided diagnosis of nasal images, which may provide more accurate clinical before pathologic confirmation masses.

We investigated the clinical characteristics of pleural effusion in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). A prospective analysis 17 SLE patients with (seven pleuritis, eight transudative effusions and two parapneumonic effusions) was performed. Thirty non-SLE were recruited as controls. fluid ANA titer ≥1:160 found 8/17 (47.1%) none 30 ( p = 0.0001). Pleural to serum C3 ratios significantly lower than (median (minimum–maximum) 0.29 (0.03–0.43) versus 0.52 (0.26–0.73), 0.0002). Among patients,...

Objectives. Postinfectious olfactory dysfunction (PIOD) is the most common etiology of dysfunction, and training (OT) an accepted treatment modality for PIOD. Some studies have investigated OT in Korean patients, but they involved odorants unfamiliar to Koreans or had no control group. The aim this study was verify efficacy PIOD using familiar including a group.Methods. We enrolled total 104 patients with over 3-year period. All participants were assessed endoscopy function test at baseline...

Ovarian cancer is one of the major causes death among females in worldwide. Cisplatin a primary anti-cancer drug against ovarian cancer, but recurrent tumors after treatment frequently show acquired chemoresistance. Extract Scutellaria baicalensis (SbE) has been reported to have functional compounds including baicalin, which effects. However, effects SbE and its underlying mechanisms are elusive. We investigated that and/or cisplatin on cell sensitive line A2780 (CSC) counterpart resistance...

We wanted to determine the postoperative analgesic efficacy of preincisional caudal epidural block versus instillation (splash block) following inguinal herniorrhaphy in children.THIRTY CHILDREN (AGE RANGE: 1-7 years) who were scheduled undergo divided into 2 groups: group and splash with 15 children each group. Tracheal intubation was performed. Fifteen received 1.0 ml/kg 0.25% ropivacaine (Group 1). Caudal performed using loss resistance method via sacral hiatus. Group local surgical site...

Abstract Objectives Olfactory dysfunction is a common complaint in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of olfactory training (OT) CRS after sinonasal surgery. Methods We enrolled 111 who underwent Prior surgery and 3 months starting OT, participants were assessed by both an function test endoscopy. Korean version Sniffin' Stick II (KVSS‐II) was used perform test. Over course months, five odorants OT (rose, lemon, cinnamon, orange, peach)....

The Paeonia lactiflora extract (PLE) has been reported to have neuroprotective effect against neurodegeneration that are induced by cellular stress such as oxidative stress. Its underlying mechanisms, however, remain unclear. In latest decades, emerging evidence suggested epigenetic mechanisms play a key role in gene regulation response the We investigated whether modulation was involved neuronal cell death neurotoxicant, 1-Methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+), and of PLE. Differentiated...

Objectives. Past several studies have proven that caffeine facilitates attentional enhancement by acting as an adenosine antagonist once it is absorbed the body, resulting in improved psycho-behavioral function. Modern clinical olfactory function tests are usually assessed psychophysical but due to a paucity of data, influence enhanced attention on still remains unclear. The objective this study was compare results cognitive (attention) and before after administration order analyze effects...

Introduction: The proinflammatory cytokine interleukin-4 (IL-4) induces mucus hypersecretion by human airway epithelial cells and the MAP kinase signalling pathway may be important in terms of IL-4-induced MUC5AC gene expression. Lipoxin A4 (LXA4) is an arachidonic acid-derived mediator that promotes inflammation binding to anti-inflammatory receptors (ALXs) or formyl-peptide receptor like-1 (FPRL1) protein expressed cells. Here, we explore effects LXA4 on mucin expression in, secretion...

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is known to have a high incidence of loss smell and taste. However, studies in the early stages COVID-19 pandemic evaluated these symptoms using subjective surveys simple olfactory tests only. Hence, we compared gustatory characteristics patient groups with dysfunction (C19OD) non-COVID-19 postinfectious (PIOD) an objective test significance training both groups. We retrospectively analyzed medical records 14 patients decreased sense after having positive...
