Objective: The increased level of interleukin (IL)-33 is considered as a predictor severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection, but its role at different stages the still unclear. Our goal was to analyze correlation IL-33 and other innate immunity cytokines with severity. Methods: In this study, 220 patients COVID-19 were included divided into two groups, mild/moderate severe/critical. value cytokines, clinical, biochemical, radiographic data collected their severity analyzed....
Clinical manifestations of SARS-CoV-2 infection range from mild to critically severe. The aim the study was highlight immunological events associated with severity infection, an emphasis on cells innate immunity. Thirty COVID-19 patients mild/moderate symptoms and 27 severe/critically severe were recruited Center Kragujevac during April 2020. Flow cytometric analysis performed reveal phenotypic functional alterations peripheral blood correlate them disease. In cases, number T B lymphocytes,...
Adiponectin is one of the most important molecules in body's compensatory response to development insulin resistance. By trying maintain sensitivity, increase secretion and prevent inflammation, adiponectin tries glucose homeostasis. Interleukin-33, which belongs group alarmins, also promotes secretion. Interleukin-33 might be either pro-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory depending on disease model. However, interleukin-33 has shown various protective effects CVD, obesity diabetes. The aim...
Background and Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine whether the use an alveolar recruitment maneuver (RM) leads a significant increase in static lung compliance (Cstat) improvement gas exchange patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Material Methods: A clinical prospective intervention conducted. Patients were divided into two groups according their body mass index (BMI): normal-weight (group I) pre-obese obese grade I II). Lung mechanics monitored (Cstat, dynamic...
Many studies so far have shown that antipsychotic therapy may an effect on the development of metabolic syndrome in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia. Our goal was to determine whether our respondents are at risk for developing and who is more predisposed it.In a stable phase, 60 schizophrenia were equally divided into three groups according drug (risperidone, clozapine, aripiprazole monotherapy). Control group had 20 healthy examinees. Patients evaluated first using The Positive...

Methods During 1‐year period, electrolyte disturbances samples from patients Clinical Center Kragujevac, Serbia, were monitored central biochemical facility. A sample 982 randomly selected total population 43 120 whose measured the facility during period. Results Clinically important detected 181 patient. There 25 significant associations...
Intensive care units (ICUs) are expert hospital areas that provide treatment and 24 h for people who very sick. Sepsis represents a serious, severe condition it can lead to septic shock multiple organ dysfunction syndromes is one of the most common reasons patients' hospitalization in ICUs. We wanted explore prognostic values interleukin (IL) 33, soluble suppression tumorigenicity 2 (sST2), IL 27, galectin 3 critically-ill patients. assumed these parameters combination or alone could predict...
We aimed to create a clinically usable probability risk score for prediction of no-reflow (NRF) phenomenon prior primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI).This single-center and retrospective study included 1254 patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) who underwent PPCI. Patients were randomly assigned into two groups in the ratio 2:1, derivation dataset (n=840) validation (n=414). Independent predictors NRF identified combined model using univariate...
Acute aortic type III dissection is one of the most catastrophic events, with in-hospital mortality ranging between 10% and 12%. The majority patients are treated medically, but complicated dissections, which represent 15% to 20% cases, require surgical or thoracic endovascular repair (TEVAR). For best outcomes adequate blood transfusion support required. Interest in relationship vascular disease has been established. aim our study evaluate distribution groups among acute identify any kind...
Introduction/Objective. Peritoneal dialysis is a method of treating patients in the terminal phase renal failure (end-stage disease). Peritonitis represents most severe and common complication peritoneal dialysis. The peritonitis causes are Gram negative microorganisms: Staphylococcus-coagulase-negative, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus sp, Neisseria sp. microorganisms are: Pseudomonas Enterococcus, Klebsiella Proteus Acinetobacter aim study was to examine incidence determine differences...
Background: Very small intracranial aneurysms, generally considered to be those 3 mm in diameter or smaller, pose particular technical challenges for endovascular surgeons. For this reason, very aneurysms have been excluded from many relevant studies. The aim of our research was establish the risk factors occurrence stroke complications after embolization ruptured and unruptured aneurysms. Methods: During period 2009-2023, team performed embolizations 1567 patients across four different...
Abstract Severe sepsis and/or trauma complicated with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome are leading causes of death in critically ill patients. The aim this prospective, observational, single centre study was to assess the prognostic value galectin-3 regarding outcome patients severe sepsis. measure hospital mortality. In total, 75 who were admitted intensive care unit tertiary university enrolled a prospective observational study. Blood samples collected upon fulfilling Sepsis-3 criteria...
High levels of fear COVID-19 may be associated with increased stress, anxiety, and depression, as well decreased resilience life expectancy. This study aimed to translate confirm the Serbian version Fear scale investigate its psychometric properties. The translation intercultural adaptation was performed by leading standard International Society for Pharmacoeconomics Outcome Research. When distribution normal, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test used. The reliability FCV-19S tested measuring internal...
Background/Aim. Patients with pneumonia who require mechanical ventilation (MV) are associated several poor outcomes such as prolonged hospitalization, higher rate of mortality and increased spread antibioticsresistant pathogens. MV in patients communityacquired (CAP) could cause development psychological symptoms, often neglected the Intensive Care Units (ICU) well decreased quality life after withdrawal MV. The aim study was to evaluate CAPs treated ICU. Methods. designed a cohort...
Abstract The quality of life and patient survival rate in terminal chronic renal insufficiency depends on the duration vascular approaches. Dialysis catheters are used to establish an adequate approach when emergency hemodialysis is indicated all approaches exhausted. Complications CVC can be classified into three categories: mechanical (hematoma, arterial puncture, pneumothorax, hemothorax, catheter misplacement, stenosis), infectious (insertion site infection, colonization, bloodstream...
Abstract Phyllodes tumors of the breast can be benign, malignant, or borderline. Benign and borderline are rare tumor types that have a positive outlook high survival rate, while risk recurrence is typical for malignant tumors. Giant phyllodes larger than 10 cm in diameter demand serious diagnostic treatment approach. In this study we present case female patient treated an exulcerated carcinoma- giant breast. The presented to department right lump with ulcerated skin nipple abnormalities....
The aim of this study is to determine whether the use tranexamic acid (TXA) in patients with hip fracture reduces intraoperative and postoperative blood loss, on other hand, it increases thromboembolic risk. was performed for a period one year. Patients were divided into two groups (1:1): first group receiving TXA second placebo. amount aspiration during surgery measured as well drainage 24 h. occurrence deep vein thrombosis (DVT) monitored before after by ultrasound lower extremities. total...
