A search for the production of direct photons in S+Au collisions at 200AGeV has been carried out CERN-WA80 experiment. For central measured photon excess each pT, averaged over range 0.5≤pT≤2.5GeV/c, corresponded to 5.0% total inclusive yield with a statistical error σstat=0.8% and systematic σsyst=5.8%. Upper limits on invariant 90% C.L. are presented. Possible implications dynamics high-energy heavy-ion discussed.Received 16 November 1995DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.76.3506©1996...
In February, a Soviet automatic geologist made soft landing in mountainous continental area of the moon and took samples rocks. Academician Alexander Vinogradov describes results investigation rock delivered to earth by Luna 20 probe.
A new antigalloping device for overhead lines with bundle conductors was introduced ten years ago, after laboratory tests and observations on actual 400 kV lines. systematic full-scale test performed in Kazakhstan order to better evaluate torsional damper detuner (TDD) efficiency. This report details the station results obtained over a several month period of testing measurement. The were carried out thanks mutual efforts ESSP Kazakh Power Research Institute (KazNIIE) at field stand located Chokpar.
We have studied one and two-dimensional scaled factorial moments in $^{32}\mathrm{S}$+S $^{32}\mathrm{S}$+Au collisions at 200 GeV/nucleon a high statistics electronic measurement the CERN SPS using pad-readout streamer tubes. observe no intermittency signal beyond that produced by folding fritiof event generator with detailed model of our detector. The systematic effects detector response, two-track separation, finite moment analysis are discussed detail. Even though observed contains...
Abstract Solar wind — a plasma stream flowing out of the solar corona is interesting both as carrier activity and an example collisionless plasma. We present main results Russian studies in recent years. The original MHD model allows interpreting bifurcation heliospheric current sheet during maximum years occurring due to quadrupole component heliomagnetic field. On scale order millions kilometers, consists transient formations. these scales, one basic geomagnetic forecast problems has been...
The photon multiplicity has been measured for the first time in S+Au collisions at $200A$ GeV over a wide pseudorapidity range $(2.8<~\ensuremath{\eta}<~5.2)$ employing fine granularity preshower detector. density of photons increases with centrality, reaching $\ensuremath{\sim}200$ highest centrality studied. results are compared measurements charged particle and predictions VENUS event generator.
Inclusive photons of low transverse momenta have been measured in 200 GeV/nucleon 32S+Au collisions at the CERN SPS. Data were taken WA93 experiment using a small acceptance BGO detector with longitudinal segmentation. The results are compared to WA80 measurements for same system and from hadron decay calculations. An excess soft over expectations neutral meson decays is observed.Received 12 September 1996DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevC.56.1160©1997 American Physical Society
The study of ecosystem diversity mountain territories is possible on the basis biome concept, which allows a regional assessment its components with possibility comparative-geographical analysis. paper reveals structure altitudinal zonation vegetation Oka Plateau, represented by nival – tundra-goltsy tundra subgoltsy taiga forest-steppe type and determines position spruce forests in this structure. Based map obtained as result interpretation composite multi-temporal Landsat space images...
The photon spectrometer (PHOS) in the ALICE experiment at LHC is a PbWO4 crystal based electromagnetic calorimeter, dedicated to measuring photons, π°'s and η's over broad pT range from about 100 MeV/c GeV/c with best possible energy position resolution. front-end electronics of PHOS thus required cover large dynamic range, achieve timing resolution better than ∼ 2 ns order discriminate against 1-2 (anti-)neutrons, provide high trigger select rare events. In this paper, we present full...
Abstract Currently, many different aircraft engine types exist. They have a wide range of operating conditions: the flight speed can vary from zero to hypersonic values, altitude near-earth conditions space flights. During flight, loads are not kept constant. Engines significant dynamic overloads, temperature and pressure differences, operate in high humidity or dust, as well various aggressive environments. The development aviation rocket building is associated with continuous increase...
