We present a method for automated spike sorting recordings with high-density, large-scale multielectrode arrays. Exploiting the dense sampling of single neurons by multiple electrodes, an efficient, low-dimensional representation detected spikes consisting estimated spatial locations and dominant shape features is exploited fast reliable clustering into units. Millions events can be sorted in minutes, parallelized scales better than quadratically number spikes. Performance demonstrated using...

Antimicrobial resistance stimulates the search for antimicrobial forms that may be less subject to acquired resistance. Here we report a conceptual design of protein pseudocapsids exhibiting broad spectrum activities. Unlike conventional antibiotics, these agents are effective against phenotypic bacterial variants, while clearing "superbugs" in vivo without toxicity. The adopts an icosahedral architecture is polymorphic size, but not shape, and available both l d epimeric forms. Using...

With the spread of multidrug-resistant bacteria, there has been an increasing focus on molecular classes that have not yet yielded antibiotic. A key capability for assessing and prescribing new antibacterial treatments is to compare effects agents bacterial growth at a phenotypic, single-cell level. Here, we combined time-lapse microscopy with microfluidics investigate concentration-dependent killing kinetics stationary-phase Escherichia coli cells. We used from three different classes,...
