Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a worldwide health problem currently lacking therapeutics that directly promote renal repair or prevent the occurrence of chronic fibrosis. DNA damage feature many forms injury, and targeting might be effective strategies for protection in AKI. Boosting nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD + ) levels thought to have beneficial effects on fibrosis other organs. However, no kidney-related studies such been performed date. Here, we shown NMN (an NAD precursor)...
Tubulointerstitial injury plays an important role in the development and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Kidney molecule (KIM)-1 is induced damaged proximal tubules both acute renal CKD. However, dynamics KIM-1 CKD effects expression on are unknown. Here, we aimed to determine associations between tubular levels, function, inflammation The relationships levels clinicopathological parameters were analyzed patients with progressive nonprogressive IgA nephropathy. was increased...
The aim of this study was to explore the etiology, long-term renal outcomes and affecting factors acute tubulointerstitial nephritis (ATIN).Patients with biopsy-proven ATIN from 1 January 2005 31 December 2013 at Peking University First Hospital were enrolled in received scheduled follow-up for least 24 months. causes defined biopsy reclassified during follow-up. Factors recovery 6 months post-biopsy estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) 12 end analyzed.A total 157 patients enrolled,...
Abstract Background Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common clinical disease with complex pathophysiology and limited therapeutic choices. This prompts the need for novel therapy targeting multiple aspects of this disease. Human amnion epithelial cell (hAEC) an ideal stem source. Increasing evidence suggests that exosomes may act as critical cell–cell communicators. Accordingly, we assessed potential hAECs their derived (hAECs-EXO) in ischemia reperfusion mouse model AKI explored underlying...
Oxidative stress has been identified as an important pathogenesis mechanism in the development of renal interstitial fibrosis unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO). Previous studies have demonstrated increased expression nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase (NOXs) response to UUO. We aimed investigate whether NOXs activation was involved UUO by contribution oxidative and potential present study.Apocynin, a inhibitor, initiated immediately gavage after performed on...
Acute tubulointerstitial nephritis (ATIN) is a common cause of acute kidney injury characterized by inflammatory cells infiltrating in the interstitium. The present study aimed to explore noninvasive biomarkers that might indicate activity pathological injuries and help direct treatment. Fifty-four patients with clinical-pathologically diagnosed ATIN from January 1, 2014, June 30, 2016, at Peking University First Hospital were enrolled. Urine samples collected on morning renal biopsy...
Background/Aims:Aristolochic acid nephropathy, a progressive tubulointerstitial renal disease, is predominantly result of aristolochic I (AA-I) intoxication. However, other unidentified phytotoxins have indeed been postulated as the cause this unique interstitial nephropathy. The purpose study was to investigate cytotoxicity phenanthrene derivatives extracted from Aristolochia contorta in human proximal tubular epithelial cell line HK-2....
Abstract Acute tubulointerstitial nephritis (ATIN) is a common cause of acute kidney injury with various origins. HLA-DQA1, -DQB1, and -DRB1 have been associated development uveitis (TINU) syndrome in case reports small series, but information about HLA genetic susceptibility to drug hypersensitivity–related ATIN (D-ATIN) or other types limited. In this article, we genotyped 154 patients different causes 200 healthy controls at loci. We found that there was no difference between D-ATIN TINU...
Diabetes is a chronic endocrine metabolism disorder that leads to hyperglycaemia. As the most common diabetic type, type 2 diabetes mellitus accounts for 90% of all disease with key feature insulin resistance. Mulberry leaves are commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine, and many studies confirm mulberry have positive effects on alleviating pathological conditions diabetes. However, its anti-diabetic active ingredients not completely understood. Compared time- cost-consuming...
Coronary heart disease (CHD), sarcopenia and depression are common disorders that markedly impair quality of life impose a huge financial burden on society. They also frequently comorbid, exacerbating condition worsening prognosis. This study aimed to investigate the additive effects CHD risk new onset depressive symptoms in older adults. The prospective cohort comprised 897 Chinese community-dwelling participants who were aged 60 years (386 men; mean age 66.9 ± 5.9 years) without at...
Deep learning-based methods have achieved significant improvement in accuracy diagnosing lung diseases utilizing Chest X-Ray. However, their black-box nature and lack of interpretability reduce the confidence among physicians reliability machine-generated decisions, which consistently limits application clinical practice. In this paper, we propose a novel interpretable deep learning model VProtoNet, can produce heatmaps that display important diagnostic image features reveal how makes...
This study employed evidence mapping to systematically sort out the clinical studies about treatment of premature ventricular contractions with Chinese patent medicines and reveal distribution in this field. The articles were searched against PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web Science, CNKI, Wanfang, VIP time interval from January 2016 December 2022. Evidence was analyzed presented by charts graphs combined text. According inclusion exclusion criteria, 164 papers included, including 147...
Acute tubulointerstitial nephritis (ATIN) is a common cause of acute kidney injury with various etiologies. It has been shown that autoimmune-related ATIN (AI-ATIN) higher recurrence rate and greater likelihood developing into chronic disease compared drug-induced ATIN, yet misdiagnosis at renal biopsy not uncommon. Patients who were clinicopathologically diagnosed as from January 2006 to December 2015 in Peking University First Hospital enrolled. Clinical, pathological follow-up data...
Diabetic nephropathy (DN) involves the injury of podocytes, tubular epithelium, and endothelium. These cells release substantial extracellular vesicles (EVs) into urine, which are supposed to increase when their parent encounter stressed conditions. We therefore hypothesize that various populations urinary EVs could reflect pathological features DN, thus might help differentiate patients with DN from those non-DN proteinuria.
