We examined the osteoblast/osteocyte expression and function of polycystin-1 (PC1), a transmembrane protein that is component polycystin-2 (PC2)-ciliary mechano-sensor complex in renal epithelial cells. found MC3T3-E1 osteoblasts MLO-Y4 osteocytes express transcripts for PC1, PC2, ciliary proteins Tg737 Kif3a. Immunohistochemical analysis detected cilia-like structures osteoblastic osteocyte-like cell lines as well primary from calvaria. Pkd1m1Bei mice have inactivating missense mutations...

Integrating sense in a thin artificial muscle fiber for environmental adaption and actuation path tracing, as snail tentacle does, is highly needed but still challenging because of the interfacing mismatch between fiber's sensing components. Here, we report an neuromuscular by wrapping carbon nanotube (CNT) core sequence with elastomer layer, nanofiber network, MXene/CNT sheath, achieving ingenious sense-judge-act intelligent system elastic fiber. The CNT/elastomer components provide...

PKD1 (polycystin-1), the disease-causing gene for ADPKD, is widely expressed in various cell types, including osteoblasts, where its function unknown. Although global inactivation of Pkd1 mice results abnormal skeletal development, presence polycystic kidneys and perinatal lethality confound ascertaining direct osteoblastic functions adult bone. To determine role we conditionally inactivated postnatal mature osteoblasts by crossing Oc (osteocalcin)-Cre with floxed (Pkd1(flox/m1Bei)) to...

Runx2 controls the commitment of mesenchymal cells to osteoblastic lineage. Distinct promoters, designated P1 and P2, give rise functionally similar Runx2-II Runx2-I isoforms. We postulate that this dual promoter gene structure permits temporal spatial adjustments in amount isoforms necessary for optimal bone development. To evaluate dose-dependent effect on development, we intercrossed selective Runx2-II(+/-) with nonselective Runx2-II(+/-)/Runx2-I(+/-) mice create compound mutant mice:...

Polycystin-1 (PC1) may play an important role in skeletogenesis through regulation of the bone-specific transcription factor Runx2-II. In current study we found that PC1 co-localizes with calcium channel polycystin-2 (PC2) primary cilia MC3T3-E1 osteoblasts. To establish Runx2-II mediating effects on bone, crossed heterozygous Pkd1m1Bei and mice to create double (Pkd1+/m1Bei/Runx2-II+/-) deficient both Pkd1+/m1Bei/Runx2-II+/- exhibited additive reductions expression was associated impaired...

Piezoelectric micromechanical ultrasonic transducers (pMUTs) are new types of distance sensors with great potential for applications in automotive, unmanned aerial vehicle, robotics, and smart homes. However, previously reported pMUTs limited by a short sensing due to lower output sound pressure. In this work, pMUT special dual-ring structure based on scandium-doped aluminum nitride (ScAlN) is proposed. The combination pinned boundary conditions high piezoelectric performance ScAlN film...

Abstract In this paper, a hybrid improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm is proposed for the of hydroelectric power scheduling in multi-reservoir systems. The conventional (PSO) two ways: (1) linearly decreasing inertia weight coefficient (LDIWC) replaced by self-adaptive exponential (SEIWC), which could make PSO more balanceable and effective both global local searches. (2) crossover mutation idea inspired genetic (GA) imported into updating method to enhance diversity...
