Abstract Background The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes postoperative adjuvant concomitant chemoradiotherapy using two different schedules cisplatin for patients with high-risk oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Methods From Feb. 2008 Aug. 2010, 55 OSCC were included in study. Patients randomized into treatment groups that either received 100 mg/m 2 once every 3 weeks (arm A) or 40 per week B). All irradiated 66 Gy 33 fractions. Results Of 50 eligible patients, 26 assigned...

Consumptive coagulopathy (CC) remains a challenge in pig‐to‐primate organ xenotransplantation (Tx). This study investigated the role of tissue factor (TF) expression on circulating platelets and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Baboons (n = 9) received kidney graft from pigs that were either wild‐type 2), α1,3‐galactosyltransferase gene‐knockout (GT‐KO; n 1) or GT‐KO transgenic for complement‐regulatory protein, CD46 (GT‐KO/CD46, 6). In baboon where developed hyperacute rejection...

Anomaly detection (AD) requires spectral and spatial information to differentiate anomalies from their surrounding data samples. To capture information, a general approach is utilize local windows in various forms adapt characteristics of the background (BKG) which unknown can be detected. This article develops new approach, called iterative spectral–spatial hyperspectral AD (ISSHAD), improve an anomaly detector its performance via process. Its key idea include process that captures maps...

The clinical usefulness of pretreatment imaging techniques for predicting neck control in patients with oropharyngeal or hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OHSCC) treated chemoradiation remains unclear. In this prospective study, we investigated the role dynamic contrast-enhanced perfusion MR (DCE-PWI), diffusion-weighted (DWI), and [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (18F-FDG PET)/CT derived markers prediction OHSCC chemoradiation. The current NCCN guidelines advocate for the use of adjuvant radiotherapy (RT) or chemoradiotherapy (CRT) in pT3N0 oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OCSCC). Here, we sought to evaluate whether postoperative RT/CRT may confer a survival advantage patients who lack adverse pathological features. A dataset 852 OCSCC treated between 2018 and 2021 was analyzed. Patients with features (i.e., positive margins, margins <5 mm, lymphovascular invasion, perineural invasion) were excluded, leaving...

The gut microbiota plays a crucial role in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Next-generation sequencing technologies are essential for exploring the microbiome. While recent advancements full-length 16S (FL16S) rRNA offer better taxonomic resolution, whether they establish stronger associations with risk of MASLD remains to be determined. This study utilized long-read FL16S and short-read V3-V4 profile microbiome compositions age-, sex-, BMI-matched...
