•Total cross-sectional SPSS area (TSA) predicts survival in patients with advanced chronic liver disease.•The cut-off for TSA that is associated worse corresponds to a single shunt of >10 mm diameter.•This study may impact on the clinical use TSA/SPSS risk stratification and decision-making management cirrhosis. Background & AimsSpontaneous portosystemic shunts (SPSS) frequently develop Recent data suggested presence large complications, especially overt hepatic encephalopathy (oHE)....

Baveno-VI guidelines recommend that patients with compensated cirrhosis liver stiffness by transient elastography (LSM-TE) <20 kPa and platelets >150,000/mm(3) do not need an esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) to screen for varices, since the risk of having varices needing treatment (VNT) is <5%. It remains uncertain if this tool can be used in cholestatic diseases (ChLDs): primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) sclerosing (PSC). These may have a pre-sinusoidal component portal hypertension could...

Background/aim: Recurrent primary biliary cholangitis (rPBC) develops in approximately 30% of patients and negatively impacts graft overall patient survival after liver transplantation (LT).There is a lack data regarding the response rate to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) rPBC.We evaluated large, international, multi-center cohort assess performance scores for PBC predict risk LT with rPBC.Methods: A total 332 rPBC were from 28 centres across Europe, North South America. The median age at time...

Abstract Background & Aims Controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) for steatosis assessment has not been validated in compensated advanced chronic liver disease (cACLD). We primarily aimed at assessing the accuracy of CAP diagnosis and quantification cACLD. Secondary aim: to assess validity non‐invasive criteria cACLD according stiffness measurement (LSM). Methods This is a single‐centre retrospective study including patients with defined as LSM ≥10 kPa, biopsy (reference standard...

Obesity and steatosis have been associated with liver disease progression in patients compensated advanced chronic (cACLD) (liver stiffness measurement [LSM] ≥ 10 kPa). The controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) estimates during LSM by transient elastography. We aimed to evaluate whether CAP is the development of clinically relevant events cACLD. Consecutive cACLD measurements observed between September 2013 2015 were retrospectively studied. Classical decompensation severe bacterial...

Understanding patients' attitudes to clinical experiences is essential for developing high-quality patient-centred healthcare, as a better knowledge of tolerance and satisfaction might allow implementing measures that ameliorate comfort, care use resources. We aimed describe invasive hepatic haemodynamic procedures, investigate which factors influence perspective in this field. Ailments such as diarrhoea and antibiotic-associated gut symptoms are generally self-managed using probiotics. Real-world data on reasons behind self-medication with over-the-counter (OTC) products patient-reported outcomes can be investigated strategically by the pharmacists. Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome is a potentially life-threatening drug reaction, which can affect multiple organs. Patients DRESS hepatic manifestations may present alterations ranging from mild hepatitis to acute liver failure. The diagnosis might be difficult, the management of these patients challenging. This report analyzes series five cases reporting clinical presentation, ranged failure, discussed their treatment.
