A region associated with sensitivity to interferon has been identified in the nonstructural protein 5A (NS5A) of hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1b. The spans amino acid residues 2209 2248 (NS5A2209–2248) HCV-J, a strain HCV-1b whose complete genomic sequence identified. We examined whether NS5A2209–2248 present before therapy could be used as predictor response patients chronic infection.

We have previously demonstrated that sensitivity to interferon is different among hepatitis C virus (HCV) quasispecies simultaneously detected in same individuals and interferon-resistant HCV are selected during the treatment. To determine genetic basis of their resistance interferon, genotype-1b was obtained from serum three patients before therapy, full-length nucleotide deduced amino acid sequences were determined. Comparison pairs interferon-sensitive isolates respective clusters...

Extrinsic and intrinsic fiber connections of the telencephalic subdivisions Nieuwenhuys ('62) in a teleost, Sebastiscus marmoratus, were studied by means horseradish peroxidase (HRP) Fink-Heimer methods. The olfactory bulb projects bilaterally to area dorsalis pars posterior, ventralis ventralis, lateralis, intermedia, nucleus posterior tuberis Peter et al. ('75) receives fibers from ipsilateral centralis, dorsalis, supracommissuralis. Area sends numerous ventral region medialis, which...

Thiostrepton induced the expression of four proteins (17, 19, 30, and 56 kilodaltons) unknown function in Streptomyces lividans. The chromosomal gene which encoded 19-kilodalton protein (tipA) was cloned sequenced. Transcription tipA promoter at least 200-fold by thiostrepton. transcriptional start site (located S1 mapping primer extension experiments) preceded a 45-base-pair imperfect inverted-repeat sequence included -10 -35 regions promoter. Under noninducing conditions vivo, this might...

In order to characterize the monocytic cell line THP-1 and its mature, macrophage-like form treated with phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA), we have conducted an oligonucleotide microarray assay compared results those from of human monocytes macrophages. We found that early cells a pattern gene expression distinct monocytes, when PMA, certain genes which are induced in macrophages, such as apolipoprotein-E, matrix metalloproteinase 9 alpha2 macroglobulin also PMA-treated (THP1PMA cells)....

C-reactive protein (CRP), an obesity-related inflammatory marker, is a promising predictor for cardiovascular disease and may be mediator atherogenesis. It has been reported that diet-induced weight loss lowered CRP levels. However, the effect of exercise training, another therapy can reduce weight, on still unclear. We examined effects training with levels conventional risks.A total 227 apparently healthy women were recruited, 199 subjects (average age 52 years) completed 2-month reduction...

Purpose: A project to construct a new treatment facility, as an extension of the existing HIMAC has been initiated for further development carbon‐ion therapy at NIRS. This facility is equipped with 3D irradiation system pencil‐beam scanning. The challenge this realize moving target by scanning irradiation. To achieve fast rescanning within acceptable time, authors developed system. Methods: In order verify validity design and demonstrate performance prior use in scanning‐irradiation was...

In chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, genotypes other than genotype 1b of HCV (HCV-1b) and low serum HCV-RNA levels are known to be associated with favorable outcome interferon alfa (IFN-alpha) therapy. addition, we recently reported a close correlation between the number mutations in amino acid sequences 2209 2248 nonstructual protein 5A gene (NS5A2209-2248) HCV-1b response IFN-alpha. present study, analyzed these viral factors relation efficacy IFN-beta, another type I IFN. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) populations in vivo exist as a mixture of heterogeneous viruses called quasispecies, which have variations the hypervariable region (HRV). However, relationship between diversity HVR disease stage, or interferon (IFN) responsiveness remains to be elucidated. To study these, serum samples were obtained from 42 patients with chronic hepatitis infection; 24 active (CAH) treated IFN, 9 cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
