Phytochrome is a ubiquitous photoreceptor of plants and encoded by small multigene family. We have shown recently that functional nuclear localization signal may reside within the COOH-terminal region major member family, phytochrome B (phyB) (Sakamoto, K., A. Nagatani. 1996. Plant J. 10:859-868). In present study, fusion protein consisting full-length phyB green fluorescent (GFP) was overexpressed in mutant Arabidopsis to examine subcellular intact tissues. The resulting transgenic lines...
Mono- and digalactosyldiacylglycerol (MGDG DGDG, respectively) constitute the bulk of membrane lipids in plant chloroplasts. Mutant analyses Arabidopsis have shown that these galactolipids are essential for chloroplast biogenesis photoautotrophic growth. Moreover, non-phosphorous proposed to participate low-phosphate (Pi) adaptations. Under Pi-limited conditions, a drastic accumulation DGDG occurs concomitantly with large reduction phospholipids, suggesting plants substitute phospholipids...
The photo-production of ϕ mesons from Li, C, Al, and Cu at forward angles has been measured Eγ=1.5–2.4GeV. number events for incoherent is found to have a target mass dependence A0.72±0.07 in the kinematical region |t|⩽0.6GeV2/c2. total cross section ϕ–nucleon interaction, σϕN, estimated as 35−11+17mb using A-dependence yield Glauber-type multiple scattering theory. This value much larger than σϕN free space, suggesting that properties might change nuclear medium.
Abstract Cold-induced soluble sugar accumulation enhances the degree of freezing tolerance in various cold-hardy plants including Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana), where sugars accumulate only a few hours at 2°C. Hence, along with photosynthesis, starch degradation might play significant role cold-induced and enhanced tolerance. Starch-related α-glucan/water dikinase (EC 2.7.9.4), encoded by STARCH EXCESS 1 (SEX1), is hypothesized to regulate plastids phosphorylating starch, thereby...
Elastic scattering of 65 MeV polarized protons from 25 nuclei ($^{16}\mathrm{O}$---$^{209}\mathrm{Bi}$) has been measured. The volume integral the real central part optical potential (${J}_{R}$) shows a behavior similar to binding energy curve for target mass number. mean square radius is found obey relation ${〈{r}^{2}〉}_{\mathrm{pot}}=(0.937\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.012){A}^{\frac{2}{3}}+(6.42\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.21)$ ${\mathrm{fm}}^{2}$. By comparing with systematics charge...
Purpose: To introduce, optimize, and assess the feasibility of a new scheme to rapidly acquire high-resolution volumetric neurographic images using three-dimensional turbo spin-echo sequence combined with diffusion-weighted pre-pulse called improved motion-sensitized driven equilibrium (iMSDE): Diffusion-prepared MR Neurography (D-prep MRN). Methods: In order optimize signal suppression blood vessels muscle at D-prep MRN, coronal lumbosacral plexus were acquired in five volunteers 3T,...
In plant cells, plastid DNA is transcribed by at least two types of RNA polymerase, plastid-encoded polymerase (PEP) and nuclear-encoded (NEP). PEP homologous to eubacterial transcription machinery, but its regulatory subunit, sigma (σ) factor, not encoded on the DNA. We previously cloned three factor genes from Arabidopsis thaliana designated them as sigA, sigB, sigC. By means RFLP mapping, sigA sigB were mapped chromosome I sigC III. Based comparison genomic structure sig genes, intron...
Abstract A TILLING strategy (for targeting-induced local-scale lesions in genomes) was used Arabidopsis thaliana to isolate mutants of a gene encoding CTP:PHOSPHORYLETHANOLAMINE CYTIDYLYLTRANSFERASE (PECT; EC 2.7.7.14), rate-limiting enzyme phosphatidylethanolamine biosynthesis. null mutation, pect1-6, caused embryo abortion before the octant stage. However, reciprocal crosses revealed that pect1-6 no significant gametophytic defect. In pect1-4, PECT activity decreased by 74%. Growth...
Purpose To evaluate whether 3-T four-dimensional (4D) arterial spin-labeling (ASL)–based magnetic resonance (MR) angiography is useful for the evaluation of shunt lesions in patients with intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs). Materials and Methods Institutional review board approval prior written informed consent from all were obtained. Nine AVF (seven men, two women; age range, 52–77 years; mean age, 63 years) underwent 4D ASL MR at 3 T digital subtraction (DSA). Spin tagging...
The analyzing powers of ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ and ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ were measured using an incident $22\ensuremath{-}\mathrm{GeV}/c$ transversely polarized proton beam at the Brookhaven Alternating Gradient Synchrotron. A magnetic spectrometer ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ inclusive asymmetries on a hydrogen carbon target. An elastic polarimeter with ${\mathrm{CH}}_{2}$ target pp elastic-scattering to determine polarization published data for...
The influence of alloying elements on uneven solidification in a continuous casting mould has been investigated by emptying unsolidified steel out flat composed water-cooled copper plate and sand. following results are obtained:(1) In this experiment withou twithdrawal strand without use powder, the solidified shell is formed as unevenly mould, for specific contents.(2) carbon steel, unevenness maximum value at 0.11-0.13%C, decreases rapidly when content deviates slightly away from range....
We investigated microstructural changes in the spinal cord, separately for white matter and gray matter, patients with cervical spondylosis by using diffusional kurtosis imaging (DKI). studied 13 consecutive myelopathy (15 affected sides 11 unaffected sides). After conventional magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, DKI data were acquired a 3 T MR scanner. Values fractional anisotropy (FA), apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), mean (MK) calculated compared between cords, matter. Tract-specific...
We cloned the gene and a cDNA for second CTP: phosphorylcholine cytidylyltransferase (CCT, EC 2.7.7.15) annotated in chromosome 4 by Arabidopsis genome project, designated AtCCT2 to discriminate it from isogene AtCCT1 2. When plants were chilled at 2°C 12 h, level of transcripts rosettes increased about 6-fold over that before treatment. By contrast, no significant change occurred during 7 d Immunoblot analysis revealed increased, showed minor changes, when compared with those cold Total CCT...

Studies have suggested that arachnoid villi or granulations found in the walls of cranial dural sinuses, olfactory mucosa, and nerve sheaths function as outlets for intracranial CSF. However, their role CSF has not yet been verified. Here we show protrusions contiguous diploic veins provide an alternative drainage route CSF.Four hundred patients with intact skull, dura mater, sinuses underwent MR imaging to explore arachnoids protruding into skull veins. Patients symptoms increased pressure...
