The common and specific symptom dimensions of anxiety depression proposed by the tripartite (L.A. Clark & D. Watson, 1991 c) cognitive (A.T. Beck, 1976, 1987) models were investigated in 844 psychiatric outpatients 420 undergraduates. Principal-factor analyses with oblique rotations performed on 42 items Beck Depression Inventory Anxiety for both samples revealed that there 2 correlated factors. Anxiety. Second-order factor interfactor correlation matrices indicated a large general distress...
This study sought to determine the short- and long-term effects of focused cognitive therapy for panic disorder.Thirty-three psychiatric outpatients with DSM-III diagnosis disorder were randomly assigned either 12 weeks individual, or 8 brief supportive psychotherapy based on principles client-centered therapy. The patients who received subsequently given opportunity cross over weeks. Patients rated depression before therapy, after 4 at 6-month 1-year follow-up.Clinician ratings self-ratings...
Premature labor, fetal demise, and growth restriction are accompanied by indices of inflammation or infection the uteroplacental unit. To understand whether these events causally related, we established an animal model demise evaluated potential utility anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-10 (IL-10). We administered low-dose endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide, LPS, 100 μg/kg, i.p.) to third trimester rats (gestational days 14–20). Control received normal saline. A group IL-10 (100 μg/kg; s.c.)...
A rabbit immunized with a conjugate of leukotriene D4 (LTD4) and bovine albumin via the icosanoid carboxyl produced antibodies comparable affinities for leukotrienes C4, D4, E4 (LTC4, LTD4, LTE4) their 11-trans stereoisomers. The bound 3H-labeled 11-trans-LTC4 same average association constant (Ka) 2.8 x 10(9) M-1 at 37 degrees C were present concentration 0.32 microgram/ml immune plasma. When 9.5 microliter anti-LTD4 108 pmol 11-trans-[3H]LTC4 (40 Ci/mmol) incubated in volume 300 LTC4,...
Gastric pH was recorded with an intragastric electrode for 12 h in two groups of healthy, preterm infants similar birth weights (range 1.4 to 2.0 kg). Group I (n = 13) were less than 7 days old and II 10) 7-15 old. Infants fed three formula feedings one clear liquid feeding during the study. In I, mean gastric measured at 15-min intervals above 4.0 3 after either feeding. lower particularly feedings, where it remained below entire 3-h postprandial period. The percent monitored time low...
To investigate the generalizability of D. A. Clark, R. Steer, and T. Beck's (1994) findings about common specific dimensions self-reported anxiety depression, authors administered Beck Depression Anxiety Inventories to 1,000 outpatients diagnosed with various types psychiatric disorders. Iterated principal-factor analyses oblique rotation, followed by a Schmid-Leiman transformation, indicated that amounts extracted variance symptom compositions resultant factors were comparable those found...
Abstract Interspecific hybrids and chimeras in mammals provide unique tools for investigating problems genetics embryology, because of the degree disparity between two component genotypes. We have attempted to produce Mus musculus , laboratory mouse, caroli a wild species mouse from Southeast Asia. M. do not normally interbreed, although sterile can be produced at low rate by artificial insemination. Extrinsic genotypic incompatibility fetus maternal environment seem involved poor hybrid...
Growth, development, and neurologic status were assessed at 1 year of age in 38 infants birth weight less than 1,000 gm who born 1976 through 1978. Twenty had received mechanical ventilation as newborns, this group a significantly higher incidence respiratory distress syndrome, seizures, cardiac arrest, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, retrolental fibroplasia those not ventilated. The ventilated high (70%) dysplasia (20% grade III or IV). Seven eight with severe developmental delay (greater 2...
A series of benzyloxazolidine-2,4-diones, containing oxazole-based side chains, were found to lower blood glucose levels in the genetically obese ob/ob mouse. Incorporation a benzofuran structural element these compounds provides greatly enhanced vivo potency. The syntheses and structure-activity relationships for this are detailed.
Frailty is associated with poor outcomes for patients on dialysis and traditionally measured using tools that assess physical impairment. Alternate measurement highlight cognitive functional domains, requiring clinician, patient, and/or caregiver input. In this study, we compared frailty measures incident incorporate perspectives an aim to contrast the prevalence of derived from different conceptual frameworks.A prospective cohort study was conducted between February 2014 June 2015. assessed...

Frailty is associated with hospitalization and mortality among dialysis patients. To now, few studies have considered the degree of frailty as a predictor hospitalization. We evaluated whether severity was after initiation.Retrolective cohort study.Nova Scotia, Canada.Consecutive adult, chronic patients who initiated from January 1, 2009 to June 30, 2014, (last follow-up June, 2015).Frailty Severity, determined by 7-point Clinical Scale (CFS, ranging 1 = very fit 7 severely frail), measured...
A total of 865 members the U.S. military underwent repair Achilles tendon ruptures at hospitals during calendar years 1994, 1995, and 1996. The discharge summaries these patients were analyzed for patient demographic information, including age, race, causative activity. Patients then stratified by cause injury. Blacks increased risk undergoing compared with nonblacks (overall relative = 4.15, 95% confidence interval [CI] 3.63, 4.74; summary odds ratio controlling age 3.69, CI 3.25, 4.19)....
Seventy-seven neonates weighing less than 1,500 g each were typed for HLA antigens. The phenotypes correlated with the subsequent clinical course of newborns. Forty-four (57%) 77 newborns had an HLA-A2 antigen, whereas 194 (52%) 376 unrelated adult controls possessed this same antigen. All 11 infants roentgenographic evidence chronic lung disease antigens, 33 (50%) 66 without antigens did not have disease. We conclude that antigen may be associated susceptibility to in (<i>JAMA</i>1982;248:1868-1869)
