We have found that single-chain schizophyllan and curdlan (s-SPG s-curdlan, respectively) can dissolve as-grown cut single-walled carbon nanotubes (ag-SWNTs c-SWNTs, in aqueous solution. We here demonstrate the creation of novel poly(aniline) (PANI) nanofiber structures by a polymer wrapping method using schizophyllan (SPG). Mannose-modified SPG can also wrap PANIs to give nanofibers having lectin affinity. This interaction is applicable designing PANI/protein composites. Abstract We have found that s-SPG and curdlan are capable of wrapping SWNTs the “periodical” helical structure is created, reflecting nature SPG main-chain, on surface. The novel SWNTs/β-1,3-glucan composites were characterized by TEM AFM, which consistently support view these β-1,3-glucans wrap SWNTs, creating a higher-order structure.

We achieved stable operation of a free-electron laser (FEL) based on the self-amplified spontaneous-emission (SASE) scheme at SPring-8 Compact SASE Source (SCSS) test accelerator in extremely ultraviolet region. We have demonstrated that one-dimensional supramolecular dye assemblies with a uniform diameter can be created by utilizing schizophyllan (SPG) as host. In the nanofibers, molecules are assembled into different aggregation modes depending on preparation procedures. Abstract We established a novel strategy to construct porphyrin-nanofibers which may mimic fibrous porphyrin-assembly observed in natural light harvesting system green bacterium. Our utilizes alignment of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrinatozinc acetate schizophyllan having one dimensional cavity along its helical superstructure. The resultant schizophyllan/porphyrin complex generates superstructures, porphyrins are aligned chirally-twisted packing mode.
