A beamline for the x-ray free electron laser (XFEL) of SPring-8 Angstrom Compact LAser (SACLA) provides hard pulses in range 4.5–19.5 keV. Its optical system an optics hutch delivers a pink beam below 15 keV with either two double-mirror systems or monochromatic double-crystal monochromator. These XFEL beams are used various types measurement at experimental stations, e.g. diffraction, coherent diffraction imaging, spectroscopy and pump-and-probe measurement. The stations consist hutches...

A new soft X-ray beamline, BL07LSU, has been constructed at SPring-8 to perform advanced spectroscopy for materials science. The beamline is designed achieve high energy resolution (E/ΔE> 10000) and photon flux [>10(12) photons s(-1) (0.01% bandwidth)(-1)] in the range 250-2000 eV with controllable polarization. To realise this state-of-the-art performance, a novel segmented cross undulator was developed adopted as light source. details of source monochromator design are described. achieved...

We report a method for achieving advanced photon diagnostics of x-ray free-electron lasers (XFELs) under quasi-noninvasive condition by using beam-splitting scheme. Here, we used transmission grating to generate multiple branches beams. One the two primary diffracted (+1st-order) is utilized spectral measurement in dispersive scheme, while other (-1st-order) dedicated arrival timing between XFEL and optical laser pulses. The transmitted beam (0th-order) guided an experimental station. To...

The design and performance of a soft X-ray free-electron laser (FEL) beamline the SPring-8 Compact LAser (SACLA) are described. SASE Source test accelerator, prototype machine SACLA, was relocated to SACLA undulator hall for dedicated use FEL beamline. Since accelerator is operated independently main linac that drives two hard beamlines, it possible produce both simultaneously. pulse energy reached 110 µJ at wavelength 12.4 nm (i.e. photon 100 eV) with an electron beam 780 MeV.

The main components of a new beamline for surface and interface crystal structure determination at SPring-8 are briefly described. Stages the monochromator modified making an incident X-ray intensity more stable experiments. Absolute photon flux densities were measured with energy. A ultrahigh vacuum system is introduced preliminary measurements from ordered oxygen on Pt (111) surface.

We have reexamined the valence-band (VB) and core-level electronic structure of NiO by means hard soft x-ray photoemission spectroscopies. The spectral weight lowest energy state was found to be enhanced in bulk sensitive Ni 2p spectrum. A configuration-interaction model including a bound screening has shown agreement with spectrum off- on-resonance VB spectra. These results identify states spectra as Zhang-Rice (ZR) doublet states, consistent spin-fermion recent ab initio calculations...

High-energy-resolution $\mathrm{C}\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}1s$ photoelectron spectra of graphite were measured at excitation energies 340, 870, 5950, and $7940\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{eV}$ using synchrotron radiation. On increasing the energy, i.e., kinetic energy photoelectron, bulk origin peak position shifts to higher binding energies. This systematic shift is due kinetic-energy loss high-energy by kicking atom clear evidence recoil effect in emission. It also observed that...
