Nanomaterials have been prepared over a wide range of length scales from nanoscopic objects to bulk structural materials. Recent investigations focused on the regulation and control structures for modulation properties even macroscopic objects. As an emerging concept, nanoarchitectonics has proposed as technology system be used arranging nanoscale units--i.e., nanostructure unit group atoms or molecules--in predesignated configuration. In this review, we summarize recent research...

The first highly conductive polyselenophene, namely, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxyselenophene) (PEDOS), was synthesized by taking advantage of a novel method for efficiently contracting the selenophene ring. PEDOS shows relatively low band gap (1.4 eV), very high stability in oxidized state, and well-defined spectroelectrochemistry.

Electrochemical-coupling layer-by-layer (ECC-LbL) assembly is introduced as a novel fabrication methodology for preparing layered thin films. This method allows us to covalently immobilize functional units (e.g., porphyrin, fullerene, and fluorene) into films having desired thicknesses designable sequences both homo- heteroassemblies while ensuring efficient layer-to-layer electronic interactions. Films were prepared using conventional electrochemical setup by simple inexpensive process from...
