Tobacco Heating System 2.2 (THS 2.2, marketed as iQOS) is a heat-not-burn (HNB) tobacco product that has been successfully introduced to global markets. Despite its expanding market, few independent and systematic researches into THS have carried out date. We tested comprehensive list of total particulate matter (TPM), water, tar, nicotine, propylene glycol, glycerin, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, aromatic amines, hydrogen cyanide, ammonia, N-nitrosamines, phenol, polycyclic...

Although cigar tobacco leaves (CTLs) have a high economic value, research regarding the flavor characteristics of CTLs is currently limited. A comprehensive study from different regions China was conducted by identifying their volatile-flavor-containing compounds (VFCs) and flavors. The samples were analyzed via gas chromatography–ion mobility spectrometry (GC–IMS) sensory evaluation. Results revealed considerable differences in VFC contents China, suggesting that VFLs could be influenced...

Abstract Evaluating the source of nicotine in e‐liquid is a problem. Tobacco‐derived contains predominantly (S)‐(−)‐nicotine, whereas tobacco‐free products may not. Thus, we developed new normal phase high‐performance liquid chromatography method to determinate enantiomeric composition 10 kinds flue‐cured tobacco, 3 burley, 1 kind cigar 2 oriental 5 Virginia cigarette, blend e‐liquid, and 4 smokeless tobacco. The amount (R)‐(+)‐nicotine ranged from ~0.02% ~0.76% total nicotine. An sample had...

While previous single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) studies have attempted to dissect intracranial aneurysm (IA), the primary molecular mechanism for IA pathogenesis remains unknown. Here, we uncovered alterations of cellular compositions, especially transcriptome changes vascular endothelial cells (ECs), in human IA.

Our preliminary RNA-Seq data revealed altered expression of small nucleolar RNA host gene 9 (SNHG9) in osteoarthritis (OA) and its reverse correlation with miR-34a, which can regulate chondrocyte apoptosis rat OA model. This study was therefore carried out to investigate the potential interaction between SNHG9 miR-34a OA.A total 60 healthy volunteers (Control group) as well patients (OA were enrolled this study. Transfections, RT-qPCR, methylation-specific PCR (MSP) cell assay performed.We...

Acidic compounds constitute a group of chemicals present in mainstream cigarette smoke, among which organic acids contribute to flavoring. In order obtain comprehensive understanding the constituents acidic both particulate and gaseous phases smoke commercial cigarettes, delineate difference between two types yields from nine cigarettes brands (L- M-types) were collected analyzed detail by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results identified quantitatively 46 compounds,...

OTU domain-containing protein 3 (OTUD3), a deubiquitinating enzyme, has been shown to participate in progression of multiple malignancies. The accurate function OTUD3 hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains elusive. We found that was significantly overexpressed HCC, and higher expression correlated with larger tumor size, more distant metastasis, worse TNM stage. A series gain- loss-of-function assays were also performed examine the oncogenic promoting HCC cell growth metastasis vitro. Using...

Base-T-specific recognition element: A chiral aliphatic amino acid, (S)-β-hydroxyl-γ-aminobutyric when incorporated into polyamides, can act as a novel T-specific element in DNA minor groove sequence-specific event. Good flexibility of the T-reader implies that it could be longer polyamides to regulate their curvature and thus allow discrimination sequences.
