Serotonin plays a critical role in regulating many behaviors that rely on olfaction and recently there has been great effort determining how this molecule functions vivo. However, it remains unknown serotonergic neurons innervate the first olfactory relay respond to odor stimulation they integrate synaptically into local circuits. We examined sole pair of innervates Drosophila antennal lobe (the relay) characterize their physiology, connectivity, contribution pheromone processing. report...

Modulatory neurons project widely throughout the brain, dynamically altering network processing based on an animal's physiological state. The connectivity of individual modulatory can be complex, as they often receive input from a variety sources and are diverse in their physiology, structure, gene expression profiles. To establish basic principles about neurons, we examined pair identified "contralaterally projecting, serotonin-immunoreactive deutocerebral neurons" (CSDns), within olfactory...

Object detection is a challenging task in the field of remote sensing applications due to complex backgrounds and uncertain orientation targets. Compared with horizontal bounding box, oriented box can provide information while retaining true size. Most existing object methods are based on Faster-RCNN other one-stage that achieve real-time speed but have shortcomings localization accuracy. To further enhance performance methods, we propose an framework single shot detector, namely, anchor...

Serotonin plays different roles across networks within the same sensory modality. Previously, we used whole-cell electrophysiology in Drosophila to show that serotonergic neurons innervating first olfactory relay are inhibited by odorants (Zhang and Gaudry, 2016). Here network-spanning segregate information about stimulus features, odor intensity identity, using opposing coding schemes neuropil. A pair of (the CSDns) innervate antennal lobe lateral horn, which second order neuropils. CSDn...

Memory-retrieval processing of cross-modal sensory preconditioning is vital for understanding the plasticity underlying interactions between modalities. As part paradigm, it has been hypothesized that conditioned response to an unreinforced cue depends on memory reinforced via a link two cues. To test this hypothesis, we studied memory-retrieval in genetically tractable model organism, Drosophila melanogaster. By expressing dominant temperature-sensitive shibire(ts1) (shi(ts1)) transgene,...

Here, a new technique termed Tetrotoxin (TTX) Engineered Resistance for Probing Synapses (TERPS) is applied to test monosynaptic connections between target neurons. The method relies on co-expression of transgenic activator with the tetrodotoxin-resistant sodium channel, NaChBac, in specific presynaptic neuron. Connections putative post-synaptic partners are determined by whole-cell recordings presence TTX, which blocks electrical activity neurons that do not express NaChBac. This approach...

We point out that, in the left-right symmetric model of weak interaction, if $\nu_\tau$ mass is keV to MeV range, there a strong correlation between rare decays such as $\tau \rightarrow 3 \mu, \tau e$ and mass. In particular, we that large range masses are forbidden by cosmological constraints on $m_{\nu_\tau}$ combination with present upper limits these processes.
