Sepsis is a common and serious health problem whereby improvements in diagnosis are crucial increasing survival rates. To test whether profiling transcription applicable to sepsis diagnosis, we analyzed whole blood using microarray containing probes for 340 genes relevant inflammation. The patient's gene expression pattern was highly homogenous, resulting 69% of differentially expressed genes. With positive predictive value 98%, list 50 compiled, randomly chosen transcripts were confirmed by...

Abstract Introduction The aim of this study was to compare the early postoperative kinetics procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP) serum levels in patients undergoing orthotopic liver transplantation (OLTx) with different immunosuppressive regimens. Methods PCT CRP concentrations were measured a group 28 OLTx recipients before induction anesthesia, at 4 8 hours following graft reperfusion, daily until day 4. same parameters determined 12 resection without conjunctive therapy....

Summary The objectives of this study were to evaluate patients with aortic abdominal aneurysm (AAA) regard immunoglobulin (Ig)G4-related disease (IgG4-RD). IgG4-RD represents a recently defined condition comprised collection disorders characterized by IgG4 hypergammaglobulinemia, the presence IgG4-positive plasma cells in organs affected fibrotic or sclerotizing changes and typical histopathological features. It was identified as possible cause vasculitis large vessels. Studies have been...

Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) probably plays an important role in the development of acute coronary syndrome (ACS); elevated levels Lp-PLA2 are associated with a poorer prognosis patients ischemic heart disease. Alterations during ACS and its relationship to standard biomarkers are, however, unclear.Fifty-one consecutive were enrolled study. All managed early invasive strategy according current guidelines for pharmacotherapy; intensive statin therapy was started all at...

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a serious condition of unclear pathogenesis and progression. Two samples were collected from 48 patients during AAA surgery. One sample was the aneurysm, other proximal neck where tissue did not exhibit any aneurysmal changes. Subsequently, gene expression profiles using microarrays (Illumina) compared in RNA extracted samples. Overall, 2,185 genes found to be upregulated 2,100 downregulated; which 158 had different with FDR<0.05 (False Discovery Rate)...

Currently, Ormond’s disease is classified among IgG4-associated diseases. Its clinical manifestation varies and characterized by the presence of fibrous retroperitoneal tissue that often affects ureters or abdominal aorta iliac arteries. We present a unique case polycystic form disease, imitating tumour in space. At time diagnosis, was not metabolically active did require immunosuppressive therapy. The mass removed surgically. There has been no exacerbation during last 12 months.
