Ralstonia solanacearum species complex (RSSC) consists of three species, including R. solanacearum, pseudosolanacearum, and syzygii. The K60-type strain was isolated from a wilted 'Marglobe' tomato in Raleigh, North Carolina (NC) 1953 (Kelman 1954). It is classified as phylotype IIA, sequevar 7 (Prior Fegan 2005). In July 2023, during field visit Eastern NC, patches >50 eggplant (Solanum melongena cv. Pingtung Oriental) lycopersicum Saybrook) plants showing wilt symptoms were observed 1...

Rice blast caused by Pyricularia grisea Sacc. is the important disease of rice and different fungicides against this were evaluated in summer 2014 at Karma Research Development Center, Jyotinagar, Chitwan, Nepal. A susceptible cultivar ‘Mansuli’ was planted randomized complete block design viz. Tricyclazole 22% + Hexaconazole 3% SC (0.2%), Streptomycin 5% Thiophanate Methyl 50% WP (0.15%), Prochloraz 25% EC (0.3%), Kasugamycin 2% 4% Zineb 68 % (0.2%) Udaan (Hexaconazole SC) sprayed thrice...

Wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.) is one of the major staples in Nepal providing bulk food calories and at least 30% Fe Zn intake 20% dietary energy protein consumption; thus, it essential to improve its nutritional quality. To select high-yielding genotypes with elevated grain zinc iron concentration, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth HarvestPlus Yield Trials (HPYTs) were conducted across diverse locations for four consecutive years: 2015–16, 2016–17, 2017–18, 2018–19, using 47 biofortified 3...

Fusarium wilt of banana (FWB), caused by oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc), is the most important constraint industry globally. In Nepal, epidemics resembling FWB have been increasingly observed on Malbhog cultivar in past several years. However, disease has not officially reported yet, and consequently, little known about pathogen present across country. this study, we characterized 13 fungal strains isolated from plants (Silk, AAB) showing symptoms similar to plantations Nepal. All were typed...

A field experiment was conducted on fourteen rice varieties to determine the level of resistance against brown leaf spot (Bipolaris oryzae)disease at Karma Research and Development Center, Jyotinagar, Chitwan during summer in 2013. Design used randomized completeblock design with three replications. Disease severity, total AUDPC value, thousand grain weight yield were highly significant amongthe varieties. severity value ranged from 21.73% 58.07% 614.8 1827 respectively. None thesevarieties...

Bacterial leaf blight (BLB) caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. is considered as one of the major threats to rice production in Nepal. To identify effective control measures, an experiment was done a randomized complete block design with three replications farmer's field at Bhaktapur, during summer seasons 2018 and 2019. Three plants extracts; 1% Neem extract, 2% Asuro Titepati extract along two fungicides viz. 0.1% Agricin 0.2% Blitox 50, bio-control agent 1%Kisan Pseudomonas were used...

Rhizoctonia solani and Alternaria citri are major plant pathogens of citrus, causing considerable production losses. Chemical fungicides widely used for disease control. Using the food poisoning technique under in vitro conditions, an experiment was undertaken to investigate efficacy several against those pathogens.
