The molecular profile of early-onset colonic cancer is undefined. This study evaluated clinicopathological features and oncological outcomes young patients with according to microsatellite status.
In this study of 400 patients with early-onset rectal cancer, 12.5 per cent demonstrated microsatellite instability (MSI). MSI was associated a reduced likelihood nodal positivity, an increased rate pathological complete response, and improved disease-specific survival.
