Substituted dextran polymers have been shown to bind growth factors and protect them from enzymatic degradation. Using this information, other researchers able use these substituted dextrans enhance the healing of bone in an environment where would otherwise not regenerate. We used evaluate their ability accelerate cranial a rabbit model. were document more rapid rate demonstrate micrographic evidence support that conclusion. Possible mechanisms are postulated.

Although free flaps are currently the gold standard for distal lower extremity reconstruction, situations occasionally arise where alternative methods needed. We present three cases of cross-leg flaps, which have been modernized with current external fixation technology and understanding vascular anatomy. All were based on axial blood supply posterior descending subfascial cutaneous branch popliteal artery. This flap afforded considerable length well-vascularized tissue. patients placed in...

A multidisciplinary wound care team was developed at the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital in 1993 to standardize management, appropriately allocate resources, prevent occurrence hospital-acquired decubitus ulcers, and effectively manage existing pressure ulcers. This report presents 4 years prevalence survey data (n = 690 patients over years), which affords an outcome analysis regarding efficacy team. significant reduction number with hospital acquired ulcers occurred. There was,...

High-grade sarcomas have a high rate of local recurrence as well distant metastases. This has led to the development intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC) part multimodal approach control disease and/or reduce extent surgical resection. Intra-arterial catheters are positioned by an interventional radiologist into feeding vessels tumor. Adriamycin and 5-fluorodeoxyuridine infused intra-arterially. Cisplatinum, with or without granulocyte colony stimulating factor, is given systemically. Patients...

Growth factors play a crucial role in the regulation of cellular proliferation and matrix degradation wound healing cancer. We have shown that thrombospondin 1 (TSP-1) its cysteineserine-valine-threonine-cysteine-glycine (CSVTCG)-specific receptor key cell invasion different carcinomas. The present study was done to determine whether TSP-1 show similar pattern expression Expression localization were determined fetal wounds, adult burn human malignancies by immunohistochemical staining...

Hip joint dislocation is the most common complication after a proximal femur replacement. As utilization of replacements continues to increase, it becomes imperative for surgeons find optimal method decrease postoperative and its sequelae. These cases often involve extensive soft-tissue deficits that require reconstruction provide strength stability. Patients report good functional outcomes; however, remains concern. Although “described” previously in literature, authors illustrate...
