BRAF V600E is a prominent oncogene in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC), but its role PTC-related patient mortality has not been established. To investigate the relationship between mutation and mortality.Retrospective study of 1849 patients (1411 women 438 men) with median age 46 years (interquartile range, 34-58 years) an overall follow-up time 33 months 13-67 months) after initial treatment at 13 centers 7 countries 1978 2011.Patient deaths specifically caused by PTC.Overall, was 5.3%...
Purpose To investigate the prognostic value of BRAF V600E mutation for recurrence papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). Patients and Methods This was a retrospective multicenter study relationship between PTC in 2,099 patients (1,615 women 484 men), with median age 45 years (interquartile range [IQR], 34 to 58 years) follow-up time 36 months (IQR, 14 75 months). Results The overall prevalence 48.5% (1,017 2,099). occurred 20.9% (213 1,017) mutation–positive 11.6% (125 1,082) mutation–negative...
Background: The question of how to manage patients with low-risk papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC; T1aN0M0) has recently become an important clinical issue. Two Japanese centers have conducted prospective trials active surveillance (AS) for PTMC since the 1990s, reporting favorable outcomes. This policy thus seen gradual adoption worldwide avoid overtreatment. Not all PTMCs are suitable AS, however, and many physicians still hesitate apply management in daily practice. A task force on...
A rapid calculation method of Fresnel computer-generated-hologram (CGH) using look-up table and wavefront-recording plane (WRP) methods toward three-dimensional (3D) display is presented. The consists two steps: the first step a WRP that placed between 3D object CGH. In second step, we obtain an amplitude-type or phase-type CGH to execute diffraction from previous was difficult calculate in real-time due cost. this paper, order greater acceleration, apply step. addition, use graphics...
We developed the HORN-6 special-purpose computer for holography. designed and constructed board to handle an object image composed of one million points a cluster system 16 boards. Using this system, we succeeded in creating computer-generated hologram three-dimensional 1,000,000 at rate 1 frame per second, 100,000 10 frames which is near video rate, when size 1,920 x 1,080. The calculation speed approximately 4,600 times faster than that personal with Intel 3.4-GHz Pentium 4 CPU.
We report the generation of a real-time large computer generated hologram (CGH) using wavefront recording plane (WRP) method with aid graphics processing unit (GPU). The WRP consists two steps: first step calculates complex amplitude on that is placed between 3D object and CGH, from three-dimensional (3D) object. second obtains CGH by calculating diffraction to CGH. disadvantages previous include inability record exceeds size difficulty in implementing all steps GPU. improved Shifted-Fresnel...
To overcome the computational complexity of a computer-generated hologram (CGH), we implement an optimized CGH computation in our multi-graphics processing unit cluster system. Our system can calculate 6,400×3,072 pixels from three-dimensional (3D) object composed 2,048 points 55 ms. Furthermore, case 3D 4096 points, is 553 times faster than conventional central (using eight threads).
We propose time-division based color electroholography with a one-chip RGB Light Emitting Diode (LED) and low-priced synchronizing controller. In electroholography, although reconstruction methods via have already been proposed, the require an LCD high refresh rate output signals from for reference lights such as laser sources, which consequently increase development cost. Instead of using LCD, proposed method is capable general panel normal 60 Hz. addition, used in does not LCD. Instead, we...
The prognostic value of the sixth edition AJCC/UICC TNM classification is currently unclear. The aim was to evaluate edition. We retrospectively assessed 354 primary differentiated thyroid carcinomas (77 men and 277 women; age, 51.2 yr; follow-up, 107.6 months) between 1964 2003. Sixty percent patients underwent lobectomy, 40% subtotal/total thyroidectomy, only 2% were given radioiodine. There 153, 104, 86, 11 in fifth stages I, II, III, IV, 175, 76, 14, 68, 10, IVA, IVB, IVC, respectively.New...
We succeeded in developing a prototype three-dimensional (3-D) color television system by holography using three graphics processing units and liquid-crystal display panels for displaying primary colored images. A 3-D animation featuring is said to have potential ultimate television. Because of the technical complexity involved, however, practical use difficult. In our system, image speed more than 300 times faster that today's personal computers, composed 1000 points can be animated at...
Abstract In this study, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a volumetric display system based on quantum dots (QDs) embedded in polymer substrate. Unlike conventional displays, our does not require electrical wiring; thus, the heretofore unavoidable issue of occlusion is resolved because irradiation by external light supplies energy to light-emitting voxels formed QDs. By exploiting intrinsic attributes QDs, offers ultrahigh definition wide range colours for displays. paper, discuss...
Electro-holography is a promising display technology that can reconstruct photorealistic three-dimensional (3D) movie; however, it yet to be realized practically owing the need for enormous calculation power. A special-purpose computer electro-holography, namely HORN, has been studied over 20 years as means solve this problem. The latest version of HORN-8, was developed using field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology. Initially, circuit amplitude-type electro-holography implemented in...
Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is associated with an extremely poor prognosis and resistant to the majority of chemotherapies. In 2015, lenvatinib was approved for treating ATC in Japan. The present study aimed evaluate overall survival (OS) patients treated lenvatinib. A total 23 a definitive histological diagnosis who were at Kanagawa Cancer Center (Yokohama, Kanagawa. Japan) enrolled. Surgical treatment possible 10 (including one debulking surgery), postoperatively started. remaining 13...
We developed a HORN-8 system that generates computer-generated holograms at high speed. The cluster employed eight boards and achieved level of performance was 1,000 times faster than PC. From point-cloud model comprising 65,536 (216) points, the proposed can update 2-million-pixel (1,920 × 1,080) hologram 60 frames per second. is internal memory size hardware. However, calculate speed even if number sources exceeds (216). Herein, we spatiotemporally divided ~400,000 points succeeded in...
