Abstract Background Letermovir was approved in 2017 for prevention of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection seropositive (R+) allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) patients. Post‐marketing data with this new agent are scarce. Methods We compared the incidence both CMV reactivation (any viremia) and clinically significant (CS‐CMVi; DNAemia leading to preemptive treatment or presence tissue invasive disease) at days +100 +200 post‐HCT 25 adult HCT patients who received letermovir...

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) reactivation is a major complication among seropositive allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation recipients; however, data on CMV after chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy are limited. We report the incidence and outcomes of 95 adult CMV-seropositive patients who received CAR between February 2018 2023. were (any viremia) clinically significant infection (cs-CMV). Thirty-one (33%) had evidence viremia), 10 (11%) cs-CMV. The median time from infusion to...

Isavuconazole (ISA) is a newer antifungal used in patients with history of hematologic malignancies and hematopoietic transplant cellular therapies (HM/TCT). Although it has more favorable side-effect profile, breakthrough invasive fungal infections (bIFIs) while on ISA have been reported. In this single-center retrospective study evaluating HM/TCT who received prophylactic for ≥7 days, we evaluated the incidence potential risk factors bIFIs.We 106 ISA. The were predominantly male (60.4%)...

Abstract Background The optimal number of doses as well the role for measurement postvaccination titers after measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccination in adult hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) recipients remains unknown. Methods In present study, we assessed humoral immunity against mumps and before MMR 187 adults who received at least one dose vaccine HCT. Results Among those with baseline titers, posttransplant prevaccination seroprotection rates were 56%, 30%, 54% rubella,...

Invasive aspergillosis is the most common invasive mold infection following a hematopoietic cell transplant. Widespread use of antifungal prophylaxis has led to increasing incidence cryptic Aspergillus species. calidoustus one those emerging species and notorious for multidrug resistance antifungals. Here, we report case disseminated A. in stem transplant recipient who was successfully treated with combination therapy that included novel antifungal.

Anti-rejection medications are essential in preventing organ rejection amongst solid transplant recipients; however, these agents also cause profound immunosuppression, predisposing lung recipients (LTRs) to infectious complications. The timely management including prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of such complications is vital prevent significant morbidity mortality allograft dysfunction. Background: CAUTIs constitute forty percent of nosocomial infections, yet their direct link with mortality remains debated. In 2009, NHSN estimated the economic burden in U.S. to be over $340 million. Limited data exist on inter-physician concordance diagnosing CAUTIs, especially patients abnormal genitourinary (GU) anatomy. Our study assessed inter-provider variability CAUTI 50 such patients, including those meeting NHSN(National healthcare safety network) criteria. Methods: We included a...

Abstract Background The opportunistic parasite Toxoplasma causes life-threatening complications in immunocompromised hosts such as hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) recipients. Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) is the agent of choice preventing Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia and Toxoplasma, but bone marrow suppression often precludes its use. Broad-spectrum atovaquone also targets protozoan tachyzoite cyst forms, few studies examine efficacy prophylaxis among this vulnerable...
