Abstract The phenotypic similarities have been demonstrated between non‐lethal campomelic dysplasia (CD) and small patella syndrome (SPS), in which different genetic defects identified. We report on a familial case of skeletal with overlapping phenotype mild CD SPS, including defective ischio‐pubic ossification, elongated femoral neck, hypoplastic patellae, increased space the first second toes (sandal gap). Direct sequencing analysis novel missense mutation (p.H169Q) within coding region...

We investigated the factors influencing inpatient convalescent rehabilitation outcomes in patients with ischemic stroke, particularly severity of leukoaraiosis on magnetic resonance imaging.Participants included 520 stroke (317 men and 203 women; mean age, 72.8±8.4 years) who were transferred from acute care hospitals for rehabilitation. Ischemic subtypes lacunar infarction (n=41), atherothrombosis (n=223), artery-to-artery embolism (n=67), cardiogenic (n=97), undetermined (n=76),...

Achondroplasia (ACH) and hypochondroplasia (HCH) are the most common form of short-limb skeletal dysplasias caused by activated fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3) signaling. Although decreased bone mass was reported in gain-of-function mutation Fgfr3 mice, both disorders have never been described as osteoporotic. In present study, we evaluated mineral density (BMD) ACH HCH patients. We measured spinal BMD (L1-L4) 18 four patients with an average age 19.8 ± 7.5 years (range, 10-33...

Patients who undergo total knee arthroplasty (TKA) or hip (THA) often develop postoperative pain. Exercise approaches are recommended postoperatively; however, the impact of excessive variation in physical activity is unclear. The purpose present preliminary study was to investigate using accelerometer early period after TKA THA.Seventy-two patients were enrolled study. Forty underwent initial TKA, and 32 THA. Physical measured for 8 days from day 3 10. with substantial correlation between...

Patients with lower limbs osteoarthritis (OA) had slower walking speeds than healthy. Gait speed, which is associated leg muscle strength, a consistent predictor of health and functional status. The effects pain pain-related psychological constructs for gait have been uncertain. Therefore, we investigated whether speed in patients OA using performance-based measure. The study group comprised 59 advanced knee or hip OA. were measured at comfortable maximum levels during 10-m walks. Currently, there are no effective medical treatment options to prevent the formation of heterotopic bones in fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP). By drug repositioning strategy, we confirmed that perhexiline maleate (Pex) potentially ameliorates ossification model cells and mice. Here, conducted a prospective study assess efficacy safety Pex FOP patients. patients this open-label single-center were treated with for total 12 months, followed up consecutive months after medication...

Salter innominate osteotomy is an effective reconstructive procedure for the treatment of developmental dysplasia hip (DDH), but some children have a poor outcome at skeletal maturity. In order to investigate factors associated with unfavourable outcome, we assessed development contralateral hip. Objective: Delayed post-operative ambulation is a risk of complications and increases overall healthcare costs. We investigated pre-operative intraoperative variables associated with delayed in patients who underwent thymectomy. Methods: A total 57 consecutive undergoing thymectomy were included this study. Pre-operative functional exercise capacity was evaluated by six-minute walk distance. Ambulation considered to be if the patient could not ward on day 1. Binary logistic regression...
