Heat-related illnesses cause multiple organ injuries, including acute kidney injury (AKI). Recent studies have reported that heat-induced AKI can progress to chronic disease (CKD). We previously urinary levels of liver fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) are elevated in patients with severe heat-related illness. In this study, we prospectively examined the detection ability L-FABP rapid assay kit (L-FABP Point-of-Care [POC] kit) for damage prehospital settings. After applying exclusion...
Heat stress could induce acute kidney injury. Although heat acclimation (HA) reportedly provides thermal tolerance, its effect on stress-induced damage remains unclear. This study showed that 5-day HA ameliorates mouse tubular and subsequent fibrosis caused by stress. It also demonstrated enhances intracellular shock protein 70 expression in cells prevents a decrease resident macrophages, which explains the renoprotective of HA.
A major complication of heat-related illness is the development acute kidney injury (AKI) and damage to tubular cells. Because cells use fatty acids as a energy source, impaired acid oxidation (FAO) may be associated with due heat stress. Carnitine essential in transportation into mitochondria for FAO. To date, there has been little attention given role carnitine AKI. evaluate relationship between inadequacy severity or AKI, we examined serum levels patients illness. We also used...
IntroductionAnti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)–associated glomerulonephritis (GN) is characterized by pauci-immune crescentic GN. Although myeloperoxidase ANCA-associated GN (MPO-ANCA GN) with membranous nephropathy (MN), where bright granular capillary (MPO) and immunoglobulin G (IgG) staining along the glomerular basement membrane (GBM) present, has been reported; however, its clinicopathological features remain unclear.MethodsWe investigated 7 MPO-ANCA MN 11 control cases (6 5...
Abstract Background Since heatstroke-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) can progress to chronic disease, it would be useful detect AKI and severe heat-related illness in the early phase. We studied epidemiology of among patients Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force evaluated relationship between severity urinary biomarkers for AKI. Methods enrolled who were diagnosed with at Fuji Hospital from 1 May 30 September 2020. compared molecule-1 (KIM-1), neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin...
Abstract The mortality rate for acute kidney injury (AKI) due to sepsis remains high, and effective therapies based on its pathogenesis remain elusive. Macrophages are crucial clearing bacteria from vital organs, including the kidney, under septic conditions. Excessive macrophage activation results in organ injury. C-reactive protein (CRP) peptide (174-185), a functional product of proteolyzed CRP vivo, effectively activates macrophages. We investigated therapeutic efficacy synthetic AKI,...
Abstract Background A percutaneous kidney biopsy (PKB) allows nephrologists to make informed decisions for treating various diseases; however, the risk of bleeding complications should be considered, given vascularity kidney. Many studies have reported factors events after a PKB. However, while urinary N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase (NAG) is useful biomarker disease severity, little known about whether or not NAG related risk. Methods Medical records patients who underwent PKB at National...
This study reports a rare case of immune-complex mediated mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis (ICGN) with full-house pattern in 56-year-old Japanese man, observed during the treatment immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). Because persistent complement deficiency and worsening kidney function, he was treated prednisolone, his urinary findings improved markedly. However, as titers were still low, mycophenolate mofetil also prescribed, which normalized levels. Production anti-platelet...
Abstract This study reports a rare case of mesangioproliferative glomerulonephritis with full-house pattern in 56-year-old Japanese man. Mesangioproliferative was observed during the treatment immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). After his diagnosis ITP 2012, abnormal urinary findings renal dysfunction were July 2018. His complement titers low, and he negative for antinuclear antibodies. A percutaneous biopsy performed January 2019. Light microscopy revealed mesangial cell proliferation...
