Abstract Glial heme oxygenase‐1 is over‐expressed in the CNS of subjects with Alzheimer disease (AD), Parkinson (PD) and multiple sclerosis (MS). Up‐regulation HO‐1 rat astroglia has been shown to facilitate iron sequestration by mitochondrial compartment. To determine whether induction promotes oxidative stress, assays for 8‐ epi PGF 2α (ELISA), protein carbonyls (ELISA) 8‐OHdG (HPLC‐EC) were used quantify damage lipids, proteins, nucleic acids, respectively, fractions whole‐cell...
J Oral Pathol Med (2012) 41 : 235–241 Background: Oxidative stress has been implicated in the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus (DM). Levels 8‐hydroxy‐2′‐deoxyguanosine (8‐OHdG), 8‐epi‐prostaglandin‐F 2α (8‐ epi‐ PGF2α), and total protein carbonyls were measured to assess whether DM is associated with altered salivary redox homeostasis. Methods: A 215 patients 481 healthy controls recruited from Department Endocrinology at Jewish General Hospital Montreal. oxidative biomarkers assayed using...

Genetic variations in key DNA repair genes may influence capacity, damage and breast carcinogenesis. The current study aimed to estimate the association of APEX1 OGG1 polymorphisms with risk cancer development. A total 518 patients histopathologically confirmed 921 region- age-matched cancer-free controls were genotyped for rs3136817 rs1130409 rs1052133 rs2072668 using a QuantStudio™ 12 K Flex Real-Time PCR System. heterozygous TC genotype along dominant model (TC + CC) was strongly...
Aims: Genetic variations in DNA repair genes may impact functions, damage, and breast cancer risk. This study is aimed to assess the associations of genetic polymorphisms excision cross-complementing group 2 (ERCC2) with risk developing cancer. Materials Methods: In total, 101 histopathologically confirmed cases age/region-matched healthy controls were genotyped for rs3916840, rs1799793, rs238416 ERCC2 by polymerase chain reaction–restriction fragment length polymorphism. Results: The...
Introduction Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disorder of the central nervous system where inflammation and neurodegeneration play key roles. Mounting evidence implicates oxidative stress in development irreversible neuronal glial injury this condition. N-acetylcysteine (NAC) a sulfhydryl amino acid derivative with antioxidant antiapoptotic properties. Administration NAC to mice attenuated induction or improved experimental encephalomyelitis (an MS model). Methods We performed...
Aims: Polymorphisms in DNA damage repair genes may affect capacity and modulate breast cancer susceptibility. In this study, we aimed to analyze two polymorphisms for each of the X-ray cross-complementing group 1 (XRCC1) rs25487 rs1799782 excision (ERCC1) rs3212964 rs11615, evaluate their associations with risk sporadic Han women Gansu Province China. Methods: Genotypes were determined by a polymerase chain reaction-based approach 101 patients disease-free controls. Results: We found that...
Objective: To evaluate the short-term efficacy and perioperative safety of catheter-based intervention in patients with pulmonary vein stenosis caused by fibrosing mediastinitis (FM). Methods: It was a case series study. Consecutive FM, who underwent percutaneous angioplasty Gansu Provincial Hospital from January 2018 to June 2020, were retrospective enrolled. The baseline characteristics, comorbidities, exercise capacity hemodynamic data before after treatment compared, procedural related...
Abstract Background The XRCC2 gene plays an important role in the homologous recombination repair of DNA double strand breaks. Functional single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) may alter capacity and affect cancer susceptibility. This study aims to evaluate association between five tagSNPs breast susceptibility Han women northwest China. Methods A total 514 histopathologically confirmed patients 1028 region- age-matched cancer-free controls provided blood samples for analysis SNP genotypes...

Abstract Background: Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is the most leading incident tumor worldwide. Genetic factors act crucial role in HNSCC progression. Our study intent to explore correlation of LINC-PINT polymorphism with risk Chinese population. Methods: The case-control (including 537 cases 533 controls) was performed determine relationship between polymorphisms susceptibility. Odds ratios (ORs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated associations. Results: current...
