Background— Most studies of amyloidotic cardiomyopathy consider as a single entity the 3 main systemic cardiac amyloidoses: acquired monoclonal immunoglobulin light-chain (AL); hereditary, mutated transthyretin-related (ATTRm); and wild-type (ATTRwt). In this study, we compared diagnostic/clinical profiles these types amyloidosis. Methods Results— We conducted longitudinal study 233 patients with clear-cut diagnosis by type amyloidosis (AL, n=157; ATTRm, n=61; ATTRwt, n=15) at 2 large...

In this study, we compared the cumulative risk of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) patients with distal unprotected left main coronary artery (ULMCA) stenosis those ostial and midshaft lesions treated drug-eluting stent (DES). The survey promoted by Italian Society Invasive Cardiology on ULMCA was an observational study involving 19 high-volume centres. We enrolled 1111 DES. Major were defined as death, myocardial infarction, target lesion revascularization. Three hundred thirty-four had...

This study investigated whether a clown doctor intervention could reduce preoperative anxiety in children hospitalized for minor surgery and their parents. A randomized controlled trial was conducted with 77 119 parents: the group consisted of 52 accompanied preoperating room by parents ( n = 89) two clowns while comparison only. The significantly reduced children’s anxiety: benefited from clown’s presence showed better adjustment than group. Mothers Comparison Group higher anxiety.

Phrenic stimulation (PS) may hinder left ventricular (LV) pacing. We prospectively observed its prevalence in consecutive patients with cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices. In the years 2003 to 2006, 197 received a CRT device. PS and LV threshold measurements were carried out at implantation 6-month follow-up. reverse remodeling was assessed by echocardiography before lead placement lateral/posterolateral 86% of patients. Both occurred most frequently pacing sites (P<0.001)....

Background— Distal unprotected left main coronary artery (ULMCA) stenosis represents a technical challenge for interventional cardiologists. In this study, we compared 2-year clinical outcomes of different stenting strategies in patients with distal ULMCA treated drug-eluting stents. Methods and Results— The survey promoted by the Italian Society Invasive Cardiology on was an observational study percutaneous intervention. selected Seven hundred seventy-three were eligible study: 456 1 stent...

Background: Infective endocarditis (IE) is a serious public health concern due to its high morbidity and lethality. This study investigates epidemiological trends in aortic valve endocarditis, focusing on sex-related differences microbial etiology surgical outcomes over 15-year period. Methods: From January 2010 2024, 608 patients underwent cardiac surgery for IE at our center. Of these, 274 received isolated replacement. retrospective, single-center analyzes these cases. Results: Despite...

Background: The minimally invasive approach, performed via ministernotomy, is now often preferred for isolated aortic valve replacement (AVR). However, its benefits in patients with prior cardiac surgery remain unclear. This article compares traditional and reoperative cases. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 382 who underwent AVR between January 2010 June 2024 divided them into two groups: 309 (80.1%) had a full sternotomy, while 73 (19.1%) upper ministernotomy. Results: Significant...

Objective: Minimally invasive combined mitral and aortic valve surgery is still uncommon. We report our experience performing multiple procedures through a right-sided minithoracotomy. Methods: present an observational case series with retrospective analysis of 38 patients who underwent double right anterior thoracotomy from November 2013 to 2023. Results: The median age population was 72 years, 61% were female patients. EuroSCORE II 2.27. Three (7.9%) had redo operations. cardiopulmonary...
