Up to 90% of justice-involved youth report exposure some type traumatic event. On average, 70% meet criteria for a mental health disorder with approximately 30% meeting post-traumatic stress (PTSD). Justice-involved are also at risk substance use and academic problems, child welfare involvement. Yet, less is known about the details their trauma histories, associations among details, associated factors. This study describes detailed factors (i.e., substance/alcohol use, concurrent involvement)...
Abstract The market dynamics, and their impact on a future circular economy for lithium-ion batteries (LIB), are presented in this roadmap, with safety as an integral consideration throughout the life cycle. At point of end-of-life (EOL), there is range potential options—remanufacturing, reuse recycling. Diagnostics play significant role evaluating state-of-health condition batteries, improvements to diagnostic techniques evaluated. present, manual disassembly dominates EOL disposal,...
This study examined the demographic features, trauma profiles, clinical severity indicators, problem behaviors, and service utilization characteristics of youth victims commercial sexual exploitation (CSE) compared with a matched sample sexually abused/assaulted who were not exploited in sex. Secondary data analysis propensity score matching used to select 215 help-seeking prostitution ( n = 43) or but 172) from National Child Traumatic Stress Network Core Data Set (NCTSN CDS). Propensity...
Most mental health services for trauma‐exposed children and adolescents were not originally developed refugees. Information is needed to help clinicians design address the consequences of trauma in refugee populations. We compared exposure, psychological distress, service utilization among refugee‐origin, immigrant‐origin, U.S.‐origin referred assessment treatment by U.S. providers National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN). used propensity score matching compare profiles, needs, use...
Purpose With the UK’s accelerating plans to transition electric mobility, this paper aims highlight need for policies prepare appropriate management of vehicle (EV) lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) as they reach end their life. Design/methodology/approach This is a regulatory review based on projections EV LIBs coming off market and associated problems waste together with development servitisation model. Findings Circular economy in unlikely shape itself because LIB recycling challenging still...
The concept of neurodiversity draws upon scientific research, and lessons from practice lived experience to suggest new ways thinking about neurodevelopmental conditions. Among the formative observations are that characteristics associated with conditions part a "broader phenotype" variation across whole population, there appear be "transdiagnostic" similarities as well differences in these characteristics. These raise important questions have implications for understanding diversity...
Empirical evidence is presented about organizational goals as viewed by samples of over 1,600 American, Japanese, and Korean managers. Comparative analyses goal perceptions ex...
The UK Government has announced its plans to bring forward the deadline for phasing out all petrol and diesel vehicles from 2040 2030, 10 years earlier than planned. This is a radical acceleration in transition electric mobility. need draw up coherent robust regulatory structures managing end-of-life consequences of this now more urgent ever. article explores potential role extended producer responsibility (EPR) facilitating safe sustainable management vehicle (EV) batteries at their end...
We describe experiments towards building a conversational digital assistant that considers the preferred style of user. In particular, these are designed to measure whether users prefer and trust an whose matches their own. To this end we conducted user study where subjects interacted with responded in way either matched style, or did not. Using self-reported personality attributes subjects' feedback on interactions, built models can reliably predict user's style.
The increasing acceptance of the efficacy and validity applied games, specifically games for health, has fostered growth new ideas applications. Engineers game developers are working on a range products that integrate electronics can detect physiological states with or game-like interfaces. These devices record transmit physical behavioral data as well motivate participants to modify behavior in prosocial prohealth ways. U.S. European Games Health conferences, now held annually, testament...
This paper examines the history of GM laws within four time bands pre-1997, 1997, 1998–2002 and 2003–4 reforms. Its first aim is a seemingly modest, though technically difficult one piecing together jigsaw that regulatory framework for food. In second part authors offer summary law immediately prior to 2003 reforms with particular emphasis on issues tracing labelling are vital our theme consumer choice. followed by third section, discussion latest round under Regulations, comparing...
Abstract The interface of science and law is a territory frequently occupied by policymakers. In facilitating this interface, epistemic communities have become significant influencers in policymaking, especially at the European Union (EU) level, as result its complex multilevel governance system. article we assess quality nature interactions between EU stakeholders on Horizon-funded project ‘PrecisionTox’, deploying concept developed Haas, well learning modes presented adapted Dunlop....
Abstract Chemical exposure can produce devasting harm to human health and the environment. The EU regulation requires testing of substances ascertain whether they exhibit hazards such that appropriate risk management measures must be applied. Traditionally, toxicity has involved using animals as a surrogate for humans. Over years, adopted long-standing policy commitment comply with 3Rs principle Replace, Reduce Refine use purposes scientific aim full replacement. However, progress away from...
