Exposure to vapours of volatile chemicals is a major occupational and environmental health concern. Toxicity testing organic compounds (VOCs) has always faced significant technological problems due their high volatility and/or low solubility. The aim this study was develop practical reproducible in vitro exposure technique for toxicity VOCs. Standard test atmospheres xylene toluene were generated glass chambers using static method. Human cells including: A549-lung derived cell lines,...

The focus of this research was on UVB radiation (280-320 nm) responsible for cellular changes in skin acute and chronically exposed individuals. This study investigated the damages triggered by exposure cultured human fibroblasts keratinocyte cells immediately 24 h post order to understand damage onset progression. evaluated a number parameters including mitochondria, lysosomes, cell membrane, DNA as well pro anti-apoptotic protein expression levels. Cellular organelle were assessed battery...

Abstract We have evaluated in vitro cytotoxicity of cyanobacterial phycoerythrin (C‐PE) on three human cell lines by proliferation and neutral red uptake assays. No toxic effects C‐PE were observed to any the tested. The protective role purified potassium permanganate‐mediated fibroblast‐DNA damage was assessed comet assay at 0 (control), 10 20 µg ml −1 doses pre‐, simultaneous post‐mutagen exposure conditions. Significant DNA detected only Our findings confirmed that is non‐toxic provides...

A novel platinum(II) complex 47OMESS(II) and its platinum(IV) derivative 47OMESS(IV) were synthesized characterized. Cytotoxicity studies against mesenchymal cells (MCs) lung (A549), breast (MDA-MB-231), melanoma (A375) cancer demonstrated 7–20-fold superior activity for both complexes relative to cisplatin. Remarkably, 17–22-fold greater selectivity toward the cancerous compared non-cancerous MCs. Western blot analysis on A549 showed involvement of intrinsic apoptotic pathway. Cellular...

Nowadays there is a great deal of concern resulting from the impact UV light on human skin especially when damage levels are predicted to rise due ozone layer depletion. The acts as an important biological barrier, and plays physiological immunological role. This study reports UVB-induced effect derived primary fibroblasts one most abundant cells in dermis. Two time points, immediately 24 hour post UVB exposure were used measure magnitude cytotoxicity. induced cell membrane was assessed by...

Gasoline exposure has been widely reported in the literature as being toxic to human health. However, exact underlying molecular mechanisms triggered by its inhalation have not thoroughly investigated. We herein present a model of sub-chronic, static gasoline vapor adult female C57BL/6 mice. Animals were exposed daily either vapors (0.86 g/animal/90 min) or ambient air for 5 days/week over 7 consecutive weeks. At end study period, and inflammatory, oxidative, apoptotic effects vapors,...
