Management of relapsing or refractory immune reconstitution inflammatory syndromes (IRISs) despite corticosteroid therapy is yet to be defined. We describe three HIV-infected patients with corticosteroid-dependent and life-threatening paradoxical syndrome for whom thalidomide treatment induced rapid clinical remission permitted complete withdrawal without relapse.

Abstract To determine the distribution of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) viral loads (VL) during phase infection and their correlation with clinical presentation inflammation‐related biomarkers. Nasopharyngeal swabs from 453 adult SARS‐CoV‐2‐infected patients Department Infectious Diseases, Besançon, France, were collected at time admission or consultation for reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT‐PCR) analysis. Clinical information concentrations...

Acute viral infections can lead to heart inflammation, including acute myocarditis. We report a rare case of myopericarditis in young immunocompetent adult, context recent Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection. The clinical presentation was an influenzae-like syndrome, classical for CMV infection, without any chest pain or dyspnea, but systematic exploration showed multiple inflammation-compatible myopericardial images on MNR-scan. diagnosis asymptomatic established. present the MNR-scan findings...

Abstract Background Staphylococcus aureus is both human commensal and an important pathogen, responsible for community-acquired nosocomial infections ranging from superficial wound to invasive infections, such as osteomyelitis, bacteremia endocarditis, pneumonia or toxin shock syndrome with a mortality rate up 40%. S. reveals high genetic polymorphism detecting the genotypes extremely useful manage prevent possible outbreaks understand route of infection. One current expanded typing method...

During testing for Staphylococcus aureus in an intensive care unit France 2011, we found that methicillin-sensitive S. clonal complex 398 was the most frequent clone (29/125, 23.2%). It isolated from patients (5/89, 5.6%), health workers (2/63, 3.2%), and environmental sites (15/864, 1.7%). Results indicate emergence of this a hospital setting.

Abstract The objective of this study was to identify predictive factors mortality in older adults with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19), including the level clinical frailty by using scale (CFS). We analyzed medical records all patients aged 75 and a confirmed diagnosis COVID‐19 hospitalized our Hospital between March 3 April 25, 2020. Standardized variables were prospectively collected, standardized care provided patients. One hundred eighty‐six included (mean 85.3 ± 5.78 year). cause...

Background: Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is a prodrug of tenofovir diphosphate that exposes patients to renal toxicity over the long term. alafenamide, new prodrug, now makes it possible reduce toxicity, but at cost an alteration in lipid profile. There currently no recommendation for follow-up profile when switching from alafenamide. Objective: Our study aimed evaluate effects on function and switch consequences patient management. Methods: Demographic, clinical biological data was...

Summary Invasive aspergillosis ( IA ) is a life‐threatening infection affecting haematological cancer patients with chemotherapy‐induced neutropenia. The diagnosis of often relies on the detection galactomannan GM in serum or bronchoalveolar lavage fluid BAL ). Bi‐weekly screening has been proposed for pre‐emptive therapeutic approach not receiving mold‐active prophylaxis. We have analysed all cases among malignancies and prolonged neutropenia (>14 days) our institution over 10‐year...

We investigated single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) possibly involved in immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome of chronic disseminated candidiasis (IRIS-CDC) through a candidate gene approach and prospective matched-control study. found that an SNP located interleukin-1B at rs1143627 was significantly associated with the risk developing IRIS-CDC.
