Background: For more than 30 years it has been known that gastric acid secretion is inversely related to the extent and severity of corpal gastritis. We therefore evaluated effect cure Helicobacter pylori infection on basal pentagastrin-stimulated secretion. Methods: Basal output (BAO) maximal (MAO) were assessed in 11 H. pylori-infected dyspeptic patients (8 women 3 men; mean age, 28 years) before after successful anti-H. therapy. Results: The gastritis index was significantly lower therapy...

<i>Background/Aims:</i> Prolonged physical exercise induces adaptive alterations in the hypothalamic-pituitary axis, increasing cortisol metabolism, and reducing synthesis glucocorticoid sensitivity. The mechanisms responsible for this relative resistance remain unknown but may involve expression of genes encoding receptor (GR) and/or inflammatory molecules nuclear factor kappa B1 (NFkB1) signaling pathway cytokines. SUMMARY Adrenal function in twenty‐three patients with paracoccidioidomycosis (South American Blastomycosis) has been assessed by measuring the response to adrenocortical stimulation 1–24 ACTH. Two overt Addison's disease showed very low basal levels and complete absence of an increase either cortisol or aldosterone secretion. Six probable diminished adrenal reserve terms three function. These findings indicate incidence significant hypoadrenalism 44% hospitalized disseminated paracoccidioidomycosis.
