In the research field of hollow-core optical fiber (HCF), one type geometry with a leaky mode nature has unexpectedly taken center stage over last couple years: so-called anti-resonant (ARF). The guidance mechanism this ARF been elucidated explicitly, performance improved significantly, and range potential application areas expanded steadily. This paper will review our continuous efforts to understand, design, fabricate aim lower loss wider bandwidth. We also explore possibility using an...

Abstract Background Due to the high prevalence and complex etiology, bovine mastitis (BM) is one of most important diseases compromise dairy cow health milk quality. The shift in compositions has been widely investigated during mastitis, but recent studies suggested that gastrointestinal microorganism also a crucial effect on inflammation other peripheral tissues organs, including mammary gland. However, research focused variation rumen inner-environment still limited. Therefore, ruminal...

Activated carbon was prepared from Enteromorpha prolifera by zinc chloride activation. The adsorption behaviors of three reactive dyes (Reactive Red 23, Reactive Blue 171 and 4) onto this biomass activated were investigated in batch systems. experimental findings showed that the removal efficiencies maximum at initial solution pH 4.5 - 6.0. Thermodynamic studies suggested reaction an endothermic spontaneous process. Adsorption isotherm obeyed Freundlich modal. Dye capacities 59.88, 71.94...

Rare-earth-doped fiber lasers at 3–5 μm can provide a variety of applications in defense, security, medicine, and so on. Limited by the maximum phonon energy silicate glass host room temperature, these are normally based on soft-glass materials, e.g., fluoride or chalcogenide glass. However, due to limited transparency fibers, until now systems have only achieved coverage up 3.92 μm. Here, we report CW laser operating well beyond 4 μm with significant power CO2-filled silica hollow-core...

Renal fibrosis is the common outcome in all progressive forms of chronic kidney disease. Unfortunately, pathogenesis renal remains largely unexplored, among which metabolic reprogramming plays an extremely crucial role evolution fibrosis. Ceria nanoparticles (CeNP-PEG) with strong ROS scavenging and anti-inflammatory activities have been applied for mitochondrial oxidative stress inflammatory diseases. The present study aims to determine whether CeNP-PEG has therapeutic value fibrosis.The...

Although breeding of F4 receptor − negative (F4R−) pigs may prevent post-weaning diarrhea, the underlying immunity is poorly understood. Here, various doses a Bacillus licheniformis and subtilis mixture (BLS-mix) were orally administered to F4ab/acR− for 1 week before (K88) positive ETEC/VTEC/EPEC challenge. Administration BLS-mix increased percentage Foxp3−IL-10+ T cells but not Foxp3+IL-10+ regulatory (Treg) among peripheral blood CD4+ cells. A low dose feeding resulted in expression IL-6,...

Abstract The mechanisms of anxiety disorders, the most common mental illness, remain incompletely characterized. ventral hippocampus (vHPC) is critical for expression anxiety. However, current studies primarily focus on vHPC neurons, leaving role astrocytes in largely unexplored. Here, genetically encoded Ca 2+ indicator GCaMP6m and vivo fiber photometry calcium imaging are used to label monitor their activity, respectively, genetic chemogenetic approaches inhibit activate astrocytes,...

The internal environment of the cow's udder directly affects health and milk quality. 16S rDNA sequencing liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS) methods were used to investigate significant differences in microbial diversity metabolites among cows that are healthy (H) those suffering from subclinical mastitis (SM) clinical (CM). Results uncovered more than 16 192 differently abundant microbiota at phylum genus levels, respectively, 673 different levels enriched 20 pathways 3 groups....

UV exposure continues to induce many health issues, though commercial sunscreens are available. Novel filters with high safety and efficacy urgently needed. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) could be a suitable platform for filter development, due their tunable optical, electrical, photoelectric properties by precise controlled synthesis.Herein, four zinc-based MOFs various bandgap energies were chose investigate optical behaviors evaluate possibility as sunscreens. Abstract The wintertime North Pacific exhibits two types of intraseasonal periodicity in daily precipitation, with a period 10–20 and 30–90 days the western eastern Pacific. This study aims to identify compare characteristics mechanisms precipitation these regions using observational data. Our results indicate their notable differences atmospheric circulations dynamical processes, despite similarities moisture sources.
