Intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) has demonstrated effectiveness in the treatment of calcified lesions selected patients with stable coronary disease.
Endothelial dysfunction is one of the underlying mechanisms to vascular and cardiac complications in patients with COVID-19. We sought investigate systemic endothelial function its temporal changes COVID-19 from a non-invasive approach reactive hyperemia peripheral arterial tonometry (PAT).This prospective, observational, case-control blinded study. The population was comprised by 3 groups: investigated during acute (group 1), past 2), controls 1:1 matched demographics cardiovascular risk...
It remains unknown whether the presence of coronary microcirculatory dysfunction (CMD) correlates with its equivalent condition in brain, cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD). The cerebral-coronary connection (C3), a prospective blinded study, investigated prevalence CMD patients artery (CAD) and association CSVD cognitive function.Patients documented CAD fulfilling inclusion criteria underwent physiological assessment epicardial vessels microcirculation using intracoronary pressure Doppler....
Myocardial ischaemia with non-obstructive coronary arteries (INOCA) represents a challenging and frequent, but largely underdiagnosed, condition.
Coronary calcification negatively impacts optimal stenting. Intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) is a new calcium modification technique.
Importance The differences between the use of fractional flow reserve (FFR) or instantaneous wave-free ratio (iFR) in long term are unknown. Objective To compare long-term outcomes iFR- and FFR-based strategies to guide revascularization. Design, Setting, Participants DEFINE-FLAIR multicenter study randomized patients with coronary artery disease either iFR FFR as a pressure index Patients from 5 continents angiographically intermediate severity stenoses who underwent hemodynamic...
We report a case of Hymenolepis diminuta infection in human. The patient was 5-year-old girl referred to us through the onset cyanotic attack. Treatment with single dose (10 mg/kg body weight) praziquantel ineffective, but parasite eradicated after three treatment cycles same drug at dosages 25 mg/kg/day for 5 days.
The diagnostic yield of invasive coronary angiography (ICA) in patients with chronic syndromes (CCS) contemporary practice is uncertain. We investigated the value an advanced diagnosis (AID) strategy combining and intracoronary testing. AID-ANGIO all-comers, prospective, multicentre study enrolling CCS referred for ICA. Obstructive artery disease (CAD) was pressure guidewires. In absence obstructive CAD, testing ischaemia non-obstructive arteries (INOCA) performed. primary endpoint...
The COVID-19 pandemic severely disrupted cardiovascular care during the spring of 2020 in Europe. Our study analyzed clinical profile, impact, and 30-day prognosis invasively managed patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) compared to a historical cohort.
The aqueous and ethanol extracts derived from twelve plant species collected in the Venezuelan Amazon have been tested for antioxidant activity using a DPPH radical inhibitory effect on hydrolysis of glucose-6-phosphate intact disrupted microsomes. Without exception, all inhibited, to greater or lesser degree, microsomal G-6-Pase enzymatic activity, resulting inhibition microsomes than ones. Marked effects were observed of: Tontelea ovalifolia, Gustavia pulchra, Phthirusa verruculosa,...
Investigate age-related changes in coronary microvascular function, its effect on hyperemic and non-hyperemic indices of stenosis relevance, prognostic implications.
Large-head metal-on-metal (MoM) total hip replacements (THR) have given rise to concern. Comparative studies of small-head MoM THRs over a longer follow-up period are lacking. Our objective was compare the incidence complications such as infection, dislocation, revision, adverse local tissue reactions, mortality and radiological clinical outcomes in (28 mm) ceramic-on-polyethylene (CoP) up 12 years post-operatively. A prospective cohort study included 3341 2714 patients. The mean age 69.1...
Morbidly obese (MO) patients are increasingly undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and surgical (SAVR) for severe stenosis (AS). However, the best therapeutic strategy these remains a matter debate. Our aim was to compare periprocedural mid-term outcomes in MO TAVR versus SAVR.A multicentre retrospective study including consecutive (body mass index ≥40 kg/m2, or ≥35 kg/m2 with obesity-related comorbidities) from 18 centres either (n=860) biological SAVR (n=696) AS...
