Diabetic retinopathy (DR) and other diabetic vascular complications are the leading cause of death disability in patients with suboptimum glycemic control. In pathogenesis diseases, hyperglycemia-induced oxidative stress, DNA damage, poly-ADP-ribose-polymerase (PARP) hyperactivation play important roles endothelial cell impairment. Adipose differentiation-related protein FBXW7 was reported to regulate PGC-1α stability mitochondrial homeostasis. Here, we investigated role mechanism repairing...

Supplementation with Selenium (Se) has been shown to lower blood cholesterol and increase tissue concentrations of the antioxidant glutathione (GSH); however, effects Se supplementation, in combination supplemental magnesium, on high fat-induced hyperlipidemia have not studied. This study was designed elucidate oral selenium magnesium co-supplementation antihyperlipidemic hepatoprotective, antioxidative activities, related gene expression a hyperlipidemic rat model.Forty male Sprague Dawley...

ABSTRACT Background Soluble suppression of tumorigenicity ( sST2 ) has been proposed to be a marker for biomechanical strain and possible predictor mortality in patients with chronic heart failure. The use pulmonary arterial hypertension PAH not well defined. Hypothesis Plasma levels may correlate the disease severity predict clinical worsening PAH. Methods We performed cohort study 40 idiopathic data on demographics, exercise capacity, echocardiographic parameters, laboratory tests,...

Purpose.: Hyperglycemia-induced mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) production plays an important role in the development of complications diabetes such as retinopathy. However, whether pigment epithelium–derived factor (PEDF) can decrease ROS remains uncertain. The aim this study was to clarify PEDF mitochondria-derived generation and subsequently downregulate vascular endothelial growth (VEGF) expression; authors also investigated involvement Janus kinase 2/signal transducer...

The traditional media used for the fermentation of Lactobacilli always contain carbohydrate polymers, which interfere with analysis exopolysaccharide (EPS) produced by bacteria. In this investigation, a novel medium formulation that could avoid such interference was successfully developed. beef extract, yeast and peptone in were subjected to removal polysaccharides before use. factors affecting EPS production optimized single factor test, Plackett–Burman design, Box–Behnken design. optimum...

Few studies have found an association between extreme temperature events and increased risk of recurrent ischemic stroke (IS). We examined associations (heat waves, cold spells) IS in Tianjin, China (2019-2020), using a time-stratified case-crossover design, while evaluating greenness's moderating role. Significant heat wave effects peaked at lag 8, with severe intensity increasing recurrence by 39.8% (OR = 1.398, 95% CI:1.032-1.894). Cold spell impacts 3, moderate spells elevating 20.3%...

Ethylbenzene is an important industrial chemical, but its potential toxicity a recent concern. Our previous study investigated the renal of ethylbenzene in vivo Rat epithelial cells (NRK-52E cells) were incubated with 0, 30, 60, and 90 µmol/L for 24 h vitro to investigate ethylbenzene-induced oxidative stress, apoptosis, expression heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) nuclear factor (erythroid 2)-related 2 (Nrf2). The cell survival rate ethylbenzene-treated groups was significantly lower than control...

This study focuses on effects of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) chronic disease under different levels temperature. We obtained type 2 diabetes, cerebral stroke and coronary heart hospital admissions (HAs) from five hospitals in urban Tianjin as well the concentrations PM2.5, nitrogen dioxide (NO2) sulphur (SO2). used distributed lag nonlinear models to explore PM2.5. In single-pollutant models, PM2.5 was positively associated with HAs, strongest at lag1, lag0 lag06, respectively. The...

Using the rowing stroke-watch SEIKO S141 to record time and 10 stroke rates in each 500 meters split of lightweight men's double sculls on water 2000 test competition, calculate average boat speed, rate distance per split. The results show that: speed was descending gradually; changed reversely compared split; last did not ascend following ascending rate; our athletes significantly lower than world’s elite during whole meters.
