Objectives: To evaluate the role of immunological tests for monitoring lupus nephritis (LN) activity. Methods: C3, C4, anti-dsDNA and anti-C1q antibodies were prospectively performed over 6 years in 228 patients with LN. Results: In membranous LN only differentiated proteinuric flares from quiescent disease (p = 0.02). However, this group 46% occurred a normal value versus 20% proliferative antiphospholipid (APL), 33% levels 14.5% that APL-negative LN, showed slightly better sensitivity...
PTPN22 is involved in T-cell activation and its R620W single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) has been shown to predispose different autoimmune diseases. The aims of this study were investigate the role SNP conferring susceptibility ANCA-associated vasculitides (AAVs), explore potential associations between genotype disease manifestations.PTPN22 was genotyped a cohort 344 AAV patients [143 with granulomatosis polyangiitis (Wegener's) (GPA), 102 microscopic (MPA) 99 Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS)]...
Background. Chronic kidney diseases (CKD) tend to progress end-stage renal failure (ESRF). As it has been demonstrated that angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) have a renoprotective effect in adults with proteinuric disease and may be effective reducing hyperfiltration proteinuria, they are also frequently used as anti-progression agents paediatric patients CKD despite the lack of data confirming their role nephropathies peculiar children. The aim this study was investigate...
Little information is available about the long-term outcome of renal transplanted patients with idiopathic membranous nephropathy (MN).The outcomes 35 first transplants performed between 1975 and 2008 in MN were compared those 70 controls same period matched for sex, age source donors. The mean post-transplant follow-up was 117 ± 86 months 123 83 controls. At 15 years, patient survival 96% 88% (P = ns), while graft rates respectively 40% 69% 0.06). recurred 12 (34%), namely 4/8 (50%) who...
Nine patients with chronic pain in the wrist were examined by M.R.I. to evaluate its accuracy detection of ischaemic necrosis carpal bones. In seven patients, confirmed scintigraphic and radiographic signs necrosis. two radionuclide accumulations, did not confirm diagnosis: one, was totally normal other it showed a healing scaphoid fracture. From this limited experience, seems be sensitive imaging modality which is more specific than scintigraphy.
Summary A controlled carboplatin delivery system using biodegradable polymer has been used in this study. The purpose was to evaluate the local and systemic effects of injectable, microspheres containing when injected as aqueous suspension subcutaneously rats. Biocompatibility toxicity empty loaded with were evaluated by clinical histological examination. diffusion tissues time drug release platinum determination plasma over time. results study suggest that provide a sustained slow multiple...
In psoriatic arthropathy the data obtained after two years of etretinate treatment in 20 adult male patients, are reported. The beneficial effects drug on objective symptoms accompanied by an improvement biohumoral parameters evaluated. dose was 1 mg/kg/day for one month, with subsequent adjustments relation to results a maintenance 25 mg/day, or where possible, 10 alternate days, maximum period months. side appeared be acceptable degree severity. authors consider drugs first choice arthropathy.
The mechanisms by which fluoride produces its toxic effects are still not clear.
A case of scalp-face angiosarcoma with a fulminating 3 months shorter course is reported. The patient died bilateral pleural bleeding secondary to hemorrhagic lesions the visceral pleurae. Clinical findings and histopathology are reported brief review literature made.
