Syndesmotic disruption occurs in more than 10% of ankle fractures. Operative treatment with syndesmosis screw fixation has been successfully performed for decades and is considered the gold standard treatment. Few studies have reported long-term outcomes injuries. This study investigated patient-reported, radiographic, functional injuries treated subsequent timed removal. A retrospective cohort was carried out at a Level I trauma center. The group included 43 patients who were fractures...
Background: Ongoing controversy exists on postoperative weightbearing status after open reduction and internal fixation of an ankle fracture. This prospective randomized controlled trial aimed to compare patient-based physician-based outcomes early at 2 vs 6 weeks postoperatively. Methods: Fifty patients with unstable rotational-type fractures were treated operatively subsequent immobilization in a below-the-knee cast for then randomly allocated groups. The first group had postoperation the...
Background: Topical photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an excellent treatment option for actinic keratosis (AK). Pain one of the major adverse effects. Objective: To compare pain intensity during extensive cosmetic units using 5-aminolaevulinic acid methylester (MAL) or nanoemulsion (BF-200-ALA). Methods: 173 patients with 965 treated areas were enrolled in this retrospective monocentric study. All had multiple AKs and received photodamaged area. 424 MAL 541 BF-200-ALA. was rated a standardized...
Background Volar plating for distal radius fractures exposes the risk of extensor tendon rupture, mechanical problems, and osteoarthritis due to protruding screws. Purposes The purpose this review was identify best intraoperative diagnostic imaging modality dorsal intra-articular screws in volar fractures. Methods Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-Analysis guidelines were followed review. In vitro vivo studies that analyzed reliability, efficacy, and/or accuracy...
