A method of determining baroreceptor reflex sensitivity is proposed that based on spectral analysis systolic pressure values and RR interval times, namely, the modulus (or gain) in mid frequency band (0.07-0.14 Hz) between these two signals. Results using this were highly correlated (0.94; n = 8) with results phenylephrine method. In addition, compared for preceding rest period, decreased during mental challenge, as might be expected from literature.

The average patient visiting a doctor in the United States gets 22 seconds for his initial statement, then takes lead. 1 This style of communication is probably based on assumption that patients will mess up time schedule if allowed to talk as long they wish to.But how do actually talk, at least initially? We found only one study, from neurological practice, investigating this question. 2 author reported minute and 40 seconds. We examined it would take outpatients tertiary referral centre...

Objective We investigated whether patient-centered communication skills can be taught to residents in Internal Medicine by using a time-limited behaviorally oriented intervention. Method Residents working at the Department of were randomly assigned an intervention group (IG; N = 19) or control (CG; 23). In addition 6 hours standard medical education per week, IG received specific training 22.5 duration within 6-month period. Initially and 10 months later, participants performed interviews...

Objective A number of sympathetic nervous system (SNS) parameters have been used in cardiovascular psychophysiology. This study aimed to describe the pattern and redundancy a set SNS during peripherally induced changes cardiac activation reflex modulation central control. Preejection period (PEP) was assessed as marker peripheral activation. Low-frequency blood pressure variability (BPV) an estimate Methods Peripheral β-sympathetic stimulation blockade were achieved with epinephrine esmolol...

It is expected equally important anaesthesia, since patients often suffer from anxiety lack of knowledge about anaesthetic procedures. However, little known the nature during routine visits. The present study 57 authentic visits provides first results on structure content pre‐operative setting using Roter Interaction Analysis System (RIAS)....

BackgroundSince there is sound evidence that communication skills training (CST) programs modify behavior of oncology clinicians, they have been widely implemented over the last decades. It has been claimed that an increase in the 0.1-Hz component power spectra of heart rate variability indicates increased sympathetic tone. We tested 135 middle-aged unmedicated men (mean age 44 +/- 7 years) with two types mental tasks, a reaction-time test and arithmetic test, to determine whether results were comparable those from tilt tests. Although both tasks significantly blood pressure, same extent as tests, energy band decreased during (from 899 641 482 430; P less than 0.01) yet was...
