Abstract This study aimed to analyze the human papillomavirus (HPV) genotype distribution in a large cohort of high‐grade vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia (VaIN) (vaginal HSIL, VaIN2/3) patients from two Italian referral centers. We included all with histologically confirmed VaIN2/3 Department Surgical Sciences, Sant'Anna Hospital, University Torino, Italy, and Ospedale Maggiore della Carità, Novara, between 2003 2022. After histological evaluation formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded samples,...

Abstract Purpose Does controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) and progesterone (P) luteal supplementation modify the vaginal endometrial microbiota of women undergoing in vitro fertilization? Methods Fifteen underwent analysis at two time points: during a mock transfer performed phase cycle preceding COS, fresh embryo (ET). A swab distal extremity ET catheter tip were analyzed using next-generation 16SrRNA gene sequencing. Heterogeneity bacterial was assessed according to both Bray-Curtis...

Congenitally- or perinatally-acquired viral infections can be harmful to the fetus but data are limited about prevalence and outcomes of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during first trimester pregnancy. We report epidemiologic from a study investigating cohort women who became pregnant just before COVID-19 pandemic. recruited 138 consecutive attending for screening (11-13 weeks gestation) at Sant'Anna Hospital, Turin, Piedmont, Italy, plateau falling phase epidemic curve. Patients were...

Abstract Infection by SARS-CoV-2 has been shown to involve a wide range of organs and tissues, leading kaleidoscope clinical conditions. Within this spectrum, an involvement the fetal-maternal unit could be expected, but, so far, histopathological evaluation placentas delivered women with infection did not show distinct hallmarks. A consecutive series 11 placentas, 10 COVID-19 admitted our Obstetrics Gynecology clinic have investigated compared control cohort 58 pre-COVID-19 28 who had...

Differentiated vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (dVIN) is a high-risk preinvasive lesion and precursor of human papillomavirus-independent squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC). Due to its rarity, literature data on malignant potential are scant. The aim the study assess risk developing VSCC in patients surgically treated for dVIN not associated with (solitary dVIN) recurrence (dVIN-VSCC) at first diagnosis.

Abstract Vulvar examination during procedures for cervical carcinoma screening (CCS) can be a valid chance early diagnosis of vulvar diseases and precancerous lesions. With this aim an online questionnaire was sent to the members Italian Cervical Carcinoma Screening Group (GISCi) from either first level group (FLG, Pap/human papillomavirus test sampling) or second (SLG, colposcopy treatments) assess if how performed. 86% FLG 90.2% SLG report performing prior CCS procedures. 15% cannot manage...

Peritoneal metastases are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in ovarian cancer. Cancer cells float peritoneal fluid, named ascites, together with a definitely higher number non neo-neoplastic cells, as single or multicellular aggregates. The aim this work is to uncover features that make these aggregates metastasizing units. Immunofluorescence revealed made almost exclusively cancer expressing specific nuclear PAX8 protein. same expressed epithelial mesenchymal markers, such EPCAM...

Primary ovarian leiomyosarcomas are exceptionally rare, constituting less than 1% of tumors, and they typically have a poor prognosis. The available data on the management these tumors sparse, with limited publications mainly comprising small retrospective series that include multiple histologic types. aim is to evaluate clinical, surgical, pathologic characteristics clinical outcome patient affected by primary leiomyosarcomas.
