Significance This work uses state-of-the-art acquisition and analysis methods developed specifically for fetal MRI to delineate the developing brain’s association, projection, callosal white matter pathways. We describe unique, heterogenous maturational trajectories different tracts, suggesting that regionally distinct biological mechanisms are at play in building structural connectome utero.
Abstract Background In prospective experimental studies of neck pain patients, it is difficult to determine whether responses sham acupuncture differ from real due the heterogeneous methodologies in control/sham interventions. Here we aim compare specific and nonspecific effects electroacupuncture with four types acupuncture. Methods this double‐blind, sham‐controlled study, randomly assigned 175 patients receive 10 sessions electroacupuncture, shallow puncture, nonacupoint deep or...
To classify subtypes of meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and evaluate the dependency dry eye signs, symptoms, parameters on MGD subtype.Cross-sectional study.the right eyes 447 patients with various 20 healthy volunteers.Patients were divided into 4 based meibum expression, quality, MG loss meibography images (meibograde 0-6). Subtypes high delivery (hypersecretory nonobvious MGD) those low (hyposecretory obstructive MGD). Additional clinical tests included tear film break-up time (TFBUT),...
Background: Transradial coronary catheterization is widely used as a diagnostic or interventional procedure for disease. However, it can lead to adverse complications, such radial artery occlusion. We sought determine whether preprocedural injection of nitroglycerin at the puncture site reduces Methods and Results: A total 188 patients undergoing transradial were randomized in single-blind fashion receive subcutaneous 0.5 mL 0.1% placebo site. The participants underwent ultrasound...
It is unclear whether uterine fibroids are associated with the occurrence of hypertensive disorders pregnancy (HDP). Thus, this study aimed to evaluate association between and HDP in a prospective cohort.Overall, 2404 pregnant women who received antenatal care were enrolled cohort China 2014 2016; 2277 met inclusion criteria study. The clinical characteristics participants assessed via questionnaires physical examinations at baseline (before 20th week gestation), 21st-27th, 28th-34th,...
Background Tractography based on diffusion MRI (dMRI) is a useful tool to study white matter of the developing brain. However, its application in fetal brains limited due motion artifacts and low resolution utero dMRI, leading reduced reliability, which was scarcely investigated previous studies. Purpose To identify reliably traceable fibers assess whether reproducibility varies with gestational age (GA) between brain regions. Study Type Prospective cohort study. Subjects A total 44 healthy...
Purpose To assess the tear film and meibomian gland (MG) features in a Norwegian cohort of patients with primary Sjögren´s syndrome (pSS) age- gender-matched control subjects. Methods Thirty-four female pSS (age 52.9±11.9 years) 32 subjects 49.0±11.5 were recruited. After completion Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire McMonnies Dry Eye Questionaire, participants underwent measurements osmolarity, break-up time (TBUT), ocular surface corneal staining, Schirmer I test,...
Aims To investigate the aetiology and characteristics of dry eye disease (DED) in a Nordic cohort patients with congenital aniridia. Methods Thirty-four Norwegian one Danish subject aniridia 21 healthy controls were examined. All subjects underwent an extensive examination, including evaluation meibomian glands (MGs) by meibography, measurement tear production film osmolarity grading vital staining ocular surface. Moreover, slit-lamp biomicroscopy was undertaken, aniridia-associated...
Abstract Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is the leading cause of dry eye and proposed treatments are based on disease severity. Our purpose was to establish reliable morphologic measurements meibomian glands for evaluating MGD This retrospective, cross-sectional study included 100 patients 20 controls. The were classified into severity level (DESL) 1–4 symptoms clinical parameters including tear-film breakup time, ocular staining Schirmer I. loss, length, thickness, density distortion...
Purpose: Clinical manifestations of photoreceptor degeneration include gradual thinning the outer nuclear layer (ONL) and progressive reduction electroretinogram (ERG) amplitudes vision loss. Although preclinical evaluations treatment strategies greatly depend on rodent models, courses these changes in mice remain unclear. We thus sought to investigate temporal correlations spatial vision, ERG response, ONL thickness with degeneration. Methods: Adult wild-type (WT) carrying rhodopsin...
Abstract The neonatal brain undergoes dramatic structural and functional changes over the last trimester of gestation. accuracy source localisation activity recorded from scalp therefore relies on accurate age‐specific head models. Although an age‐appropriate population‐level atlas could be used, detail is lost in construction such atlases, particular with regard to smoothing cortical surface, so a model not representative anatomy at individual level. In this work, we describe database...
Background: Chronic neck pain ranks as the fourth most common cause of disability globally. However, treatment for this condition is expensive and lacks substantial proof its efficacy. Objectives: The study aimed to identify effectiveness myofascial release (MFR) on upper trapezius scalene muscles chronic pain. Methods Materials: was a double-blind, randomized controlled trial. A total 40 individuals with persistent were allocated randomly an experimental control group. trial group provided...
Abstrac-This paper aims to establish a comprehensive interdisciplinary graduate training model and improve the in three stages: enrollment, training, degree granting. The Analytic Hierarchy Process is used evaluation index system for innovation practical capabilities, specific quantitative method proposed. Taking School of Civil Engineering at Shenyang Jianzhu University as an example, questionnaire survey conducted analyze reasons students' choice studies, applied evaluate learning,...
Studies have shown that the non-biological site-related effects may induce bias in multisite neuroimaging studies among adults and adolescents. It is unknown how site would affect analysis of fetal brain MRI which acquisition factors are critical quantitative analysis. In this study, we identified effects, including manufacture, field strength, in-plane resolution, slice-thickness on volume cortical thickness measurements normal fetuses. We also showed these could be effectively removed with...
Background: The association between impaired fasting glucose level (IFG) and coronary heart disease (CAD) remain controversial. In the present study, we sought to ascertain a relationship of IFG with number diseased artery occurrence myocardial infarction, among CAD cases. Methods: We studied 1,451 consecutive no-diabetic patients who underwent angiography at First Affiliated Hospital Shantou University Medical College in Southern China. Demographic, biochemical, clinical angiographic data...
The Rome Foundation released the Ⅳ for functional gastrointestinal diseases (FGIDs) in 2016, which fully presented latest advances and views on disease origin, definition, diagnosis, classification, pathology, mechanism, clinical features, influential factors, interventions, evaluation, research design so on, showing high positive effects global researches. Traditional Chinese medicines (TCM) have cognitive advantages well-recognized and-demonstrated efficacy prevention treatment FGIDs....
Abstract Background Multisite MRI studies have become prevalent given their advantage in revealing reliable biological or clinical findings. Adult and adolescent multisite demonstrated inevitable site-related non-biological effects that introduce bias. However, the site effect on fetal brain remains unknown. Purpose To identify crucial acquisition factors affecting structural measurements developmental patterns, while assessing effectiveness of existing harmonization methods mitigating...
