According to World Health Organization estimates, sepsis accounts for 60%-80% of lost lives per year in childhood. Measures appropriate resource-scarce and resource-abundant settings alike can reduce deaths. In this regard, the Federation Pediatric Intensive Care Critical Societies Board Directors announces Global Sepsis Initiative, a quality improvement program designed improve care children with sepsis. To announce global initiative; justify some bundles that are included; show preliminary...
The next generation of water Cherenkov neutrino telescopes in the Mediterranean Sea are under construction offshore France (KM3NeT/ORCA) and Sicily (KM3NeT/ARCA). KM3NeT/ORCA detector features an energy detection threshold which allows to collect atmospheric neutrinos study flavour oscillation. This paper reports sensitivity this phenomenon. event reconstruction, selection classification described. determine mass ordering was evaluated found be 4.4 $\sigma$ if true is normal 2.3 inverted,...
Abstract The optical module of the KM3NeT neutrino telescope is an innovative multi-faceted large area photodetection module. It contains 31 three-inch photomultiplier tubes in a single 0.44 m diameter pressure-resistant glass sphere. sensory device also comprising calibration instruments and electronics for power, readout data acquisition. capped with breakout-box connection to electro-optical cable power long-distance communication onshore control station. design was qualified first time...
Abstract Objective To determine early outcomes and improvements in a prospective inception cohort of children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) treated current standard therapies. Methods Patients selected were enrolled an JIA, the Research Arthritis Canadian Children Emphasizing Outcomes Study. The rheumatoid core criteria set measures completed at enrollment 6 months later. Frequencies normal values for each American College Rheumatology (ACR) Pediatric 30, 50, 70 (Pedi 70) response...
Objective Biliary atresia (BA), a leading cause of paediatric liver failure and transplantation, manifests by three weeks life as jaundice with acholic stools. Poor outcomes due to delayed diagnosis remain problem worldwide. We evaluated assessed the cost-effectiveness methods introducing BA Infant Stool Colour Card (ISCC) screening programme in Canada. Setting Methods A prospective study at BC Women’s Hospital recruited consecutive healthy newborns through six incrementally more intensive...
A hydroxycinnamic acid derivative, namely ferulic (FA) has been successfully encapsulated in polymeric nanoparticles (NPs) based on poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA). FA-loaded NPs were prepared from O/W nano-emulsion templates using the phase inversion composition (PIC) low-energy emulsification method. The obtained PLGA exhibited high colloidal stability, good drug-loading capacity, and particle hydrodynamic diameters range of 74 to 117 nm, depending FA concentration used. In vitro drug...
We predict theoretically the nondiffractive propagation of sonic waves in periodic acoustic media (sonic crystals) by expansion into a set plane (Bloch mode expansion) and finite-difference time-domain calculations finite beams. also give analytical evaluations parameters for propagation, as well minimum size nondiffractively propagating
We present an experimental demonstration of the subdiffractive propagation (self-collimation) ultrasound beam in a two-dimensional sonic crystal formed by square array steel cylinders inmersed water. Measurements show that diffractive spreading narrow is strongly reduced along spatially modulated direction crystal. The effect finite length theoretically analyzed, resulting frequency shift point good correspondence with results.
Abstract The KM3NeT research infrastructure is under construction in the Mediterranean Sea. We present the experimental demonstration of self-collimation (subdiffractive propagation) an ultrasonic beam inside a three-dimensional sonic crystal. The crystal is formed by two crossed steel cylinders structures in woodpile-like geometry disposed water. Measurements 3D field distribution show that narrow which diffractively spreads absence strongly collimated propagation crystal, demonstrating effect.
The KM3NeT research infrastructure is under construction in the Mediterranean Sea. will study atmospheric and astrophysical neutrinos with two multi-purpose neutrino detectors, ARCA ORCA, primarily aimed at GeV-PeV neutrinos. Thanks to multi-photomultiplier tube design of digital optical modules, capable detecting burst from a Galactic or near-Galactic core-collapse supernova. This paper evaluates the impact of using deep learning techniques in an automatic fish sizing process. Automatic with a non-invasive approach involves working different views fish's body and changing environments, being stage extraction individuals image quality segmentation essential to obtain good measurements. The goal this work is improve results functionality achieved our previous studies conventional methods based on local thresholding, where limitations were observed, mainly necessity...
Abstract The optical data transport system of the KM3NeT neutrino telescope at bottom Mediterranean Sea will provide more than 6000 modules in detector arrays with a point-to-point connection to control stations onshore. ARCA and ORCA detectors are being installed depth about 3500 m 2500 m, respectively their distance is 100 kilometers 40 kilometers. In particular, two optimised for detection cosmic neutrinos energies above 1 TeV (ARCA) atmospheric range GeV–1 (ORCA). expected maximum rate...
Abstract This article reports the first observation of Moon and Sun shadows in sky distribution cosmic-ray induced muons measured by KM3NeT/ORCA detector. In this article, the evolution of BFT (bluefin tuna) sizes in fattening cages is studied, for which it was necessary to perform exhaustive monitoring with stereoscopic cameras and an analysis data using automatic procedures. Exploring size over a long period important step inferring their growth patterns, are essential designing smart aquaculture sustainable fishing, even assessing health status. An objective work verify whether tuna captivity, addition fattening, grow length. To end, our...
This article presents a non-invasive fully automatic procedure for Bluefin Tuna sizing, based on stereoscopic vision system and deformable model of the fish ventral silhouette. An image processing is performed each video frame to extract individual fish, followed by fitting adjust extracted targets, adapting it bending movements fish. The proposed able give accurate measurements tuna snout fork length (SFL) widths at five predefined silhouette points without manual intervention. In this...
Anthropogenic activities are causing increased noise levels in the marine environment. To date, few studies have been undertaken to investigate effects of different frequencies on behaviour juvenile fish. In this study, behavioural changes gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) evaluated when exposed white filtered third-octave bands centred at 63, 125, 500, and 1000 Hz (sound pressure level, 140–150 dB re 1 μΡa) for 7 h. The group dispersion, motility, swimming height fish were analysed before...
