Abstract In the last decade, role of radiotherapy in rectal cancer has changed significantly with introduction total neoadjuvant therapy (TNT) and nonoperative management (NOM). For setting irradiation field cancer, pararectal, lateral lymph nodes, those along inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) are most important. mesorectal excision (TME), root IMA is dissected. atlas pelvic for upper margin mesorectum varies from to atlas, no sets IMA. particular, there consensus on definition anatomical...

Abstract This study assessed the significance of hands-on-training (HoT) and questionnaire-based surveys on 3D image-guided brachytherapy (3D-IGBT) a combination intracavitary interstitial brachytherapy, so-called ‘hybrid’ BT (HBT), in uterine cervical cancer. In October 2023, 29 radiation oncologists, nurses, radiologic technologists medical physicists from 10 Japanese facilities participated an HoT 3D-IGBT HBT. Questionnaires were distributed to each participant before after HoT, feedback...

The therapeutic strategies and prognostic risk factors in patients with lymph node (LN) recurrence of esophageal cancer remain controversial. We assessed clinical outcomes related to the use chemoradiotherapy (CRT) for LN squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) after curative resection. We retrospectively evaluated survival 57 ESCC resection. Patients received CRT using 5-fluorouracil plus cisplatin (FP) or docetaxel. Radiotherapy was delivered at 2 Gy (total dose, 60-66 Gy; median, 60 Gy).The median...

During radiotherapy sessions to treat brain tumors or head-and-neck cancers, some patients experience unusual visual and/or olfactory perceptions. This prospective study sought answer two questions: (i) what proportion of these unpleasant sensations?, and (ii) which organs are responsible? Eligible had near-orbital treated by helical tomotherapy. All were aged 10 years older, able communicate, interviewed a radiation oncologist at least once weekly during therapy. If they experienced such...

Purpose: Although stereotactic body radiation therapy is one of the standard treatments for stage I nonsmall cell lung cancer, in case central tumors it carries risk severe adverse events serial organs. Accelerated hypofractionated radiotherapy considered a reasonable alternative to treat tumors. We have been treating with accelerated using 75 Gy/25 fr/5 weeks regimen, and we compared results those 48 Gy/4 fr/1 week. Methods: Patients and/or unfit 1-hour fixation were candidates...

Abstract Purpose To determine the efficacy and safety of target volume determination by 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) for intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) locally advanced head neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) extending into oral cavity or oropharynx. Methods We prospectively treated 10 consecutive consenting patients with HNSCC using IMRT, volumes determined PET-CT. Gross tumor (GTV) clinical (CTV) at level were two...

We first used MucoUp®, a hyaluronic acid in endoscopic resection, as spacer brachytherapy. In five cervical cancer patients, MucoUp® insertion increased 90% dose of the high-risk CTV to over 80 Gy while decreasing organs at risk. No related adverse events were observed.

To prospectively investigate the efficacy and feasibility of focal low-dose-rate (LDR) prostate brachytherapy for low- intermediate-risk cancer.Between October 2014 May 2019, nineteen cancer patients who presented with abnormality on both diffusion-weighted T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) underwent LDR at our institution. Focal gross tumor volume (F-GTV) was delineated transrectal ultrasound, based seen fused MRI. F-GTV expanded by 5 mm, as a safety margin, to create clinical...

Abstract Objective To determine the most appropriate radiologic criteria of metastatic retropharyngeal lymph nodes (RLNs) in patients with maxillary sinus cancer (MSC). Materials and methods We retrospectively evaluated 16 consecutive who underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) before after treatment locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma sinus. The minimal maximal diameters all RLNS were recorded. RLNs classified as on basis MRI follow-up (f/u). considered non-metastatic if stable...

A new technique for hepatic intraarterial digital subtraction angiography (DSA)--hepatoportal (HPSA)--that emphasizes the enhancement of tumors by suppressing liver parenchymal has been developed. The tumor detection sensitivity HPSA was evaluated prospectively in comparison with that conventional DSA, unenhanced computed tomography (CT) or CT enhanced iodine-containing contrast material (conventional CT), iodized oil, and ultrasound (US).
