Inconsistencies in the preparation of histology slides make it difficult to perform quantitative analysis on their results. In this paper we provide two mechanisms for overcoming many known inconsistencies staining process, thereby bringing that were processed or stored under very different conditions into a common, normalized space enable improved analysis.

Abstract The role of empathy and perspective-taking in preventing aggressive behaviors has been highlighted several theoretical models. In this study, we used immersive virtual reality to induce a full body ownership illusion that allows offenders be the victim domestic abuse. A group male violence control without history experienced scene abuse first-person perspective. During encounter, participants’ real bodies were replaced with life-sized female moved synchronously their own movements....

The healthcare industry's widespread digitization efforts are reshaping one of the largest sectors world's economy. This transformation is enabling systems that promise to use ever-improving data-driven evidence help doctors make more precise diagnoses, institutions identify at risk patients for intervention, clinicians develop personalized treatment plans, and researchers better understand medical outcomes within complex patient populations. Given scale complexity data required achieve...

Immersive virtual reality is widely used for research and clinical purposes. Here we explored the impact of an immersive scene intimate partner violence experienced from victim's perspective (first person), as opposed to witnessing it observer (third person). We are ultimately interested in potential this approach rehabilitate batterers understanding mechanisms underlying process. For this, non-offender men either body (a female avatar), which moved synchronously with participants' real...

However, it is still challenging connect changes these data cell functions because complex interdependencies between genes, proteins, and metabolites. Here, we present framework allowing researchers infer how metabolic change on the basis omics To enable this, curated standardized lists tasks that mammalian cells can accomplish. Genome-scale networks were used define gene sets associated with each task. We...

Traditional approaches to data visualization have often focused on comparing different subsets of data, and this is reflected in the many techniques developed evaluated over years for visual comparison. Similarly, common workflows exploratory are built upon idea users interactively applying various filter grouping mechanisms search new insights. This paradigm has proven effective at helping identify correlations between variables that can inform thinking decision-making. However, recent...

Temporal event data are collected across a broad range of domains, and variety visual analytics techniques have been developed to empower analysts working with this form data. These generally display aggregate statistics computed over sets sequences that share common patterns. Such often hindered, however, by the high-dimensionality many real-world sequence datasets because large number distinct types within such prevents effective aggregation. The collection of large, complex datasets has become common across a wide variety domains. Visual analytics tools increasingly play key role in exploring and answering questions about these large datasets. However, many visualizations are not designed to concurrently visualize the number dimensions present (e.g. tens thousands distinct codes an electronic health record system). This fact, combined with ability visual systems enable rapid, ad-hoc specification groups, or cohorts, individuals...
