To document outcome and to explore prognostic factors in fetal left congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH).This was a multicenter retrospective study of 109 patients with prenatally diagnosed isolated CDH born between 2002 2007. The primary intact discharge, defined as discharge from hospital without major morbidities, such need for respiratory support including oxygen supplementation, tube feeding, parenteral nutrition or vasodilators. All were managed at perinatal centers immediate...
To confirm that the tip of a gastric tube is properly positioned within stomach, commonly used methods include simple X-ray examination, auscultation bubble sounds, and pH testing aspirated fluids. However, these have limitations, such as concerns regarding radiation exposure accuracy. We utilized Tumguide® (Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory, Inc., Tokushima, Japan), verification system employs biologically transparent (BT) red light-emitting diode (LED) light, for insertion in five pediatric...
To assess the influence of supervisory surgeons certified by Japanese Society Pediatric Surgeons (JSPS) and patient-related factors on manipulation time single-incision laparoscopic percutaneous extraperitoneal closure (SILPEC). We retrospectively reviewed 469 SILPEC procedures that were performed between 2017 2023. Procedures categorized based whether or not attending possessed JSPS certification as supervisors, patient characteristics compared. A multivariate analysis was also to evaluate...
Second branchial cleft (SBC) fistulas are the most common anomalies and typically present in infancy or early childhood. While complete surgical excision is standard treatment, challenges younger children arise because of narrower fistula tracts inadequate visualization, which increase risk complications recurrence. We report case a 6-month-old boy with an SBC who presented persistent mucoid discharge from right cervical orifice. Fistulography confirmed presence fistula. At 9 months age,...
Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is one of the most critical pathologic conditions in neonatal medicine due to potential for neurological deficits later life. We investigated incidence term infants with moderate or severe HIE Japan and identified prognostic risk factors poor outcome HIE.Data on 227 diagnosed born between January December 2008 were collected via nationwide surveys from 263 responding hospitals. Using logistic regression, we examined relationship maternal, antepartum,...
Abstract Background Despite the presence of ganglion cells in rectum, some patients have symptoms similar to those Hirschsprung's disease. A consensus has yet be established regarding terminology for these diseases. We defined this group diseases as “allied disorders disease” and compiled guidelines facilitate accurate clinician diagnosis provide appropriate treatment strategies each Methods These were developed using methodologies Medical Information Network Distribution System ( MINDS )....
Carbon-coated porous silica spheres (C/PSSs) are particles with uniform particle and mesopore sizes, on which a thin layer of carbon is uniformly deposited the surface by chemical vapor deposition. The continuous deposit over network allows C/PSS to be electrically conductive more chemically stable its traditional counterparts, such as PSS, carbons, electrodes. As homogeneous particles, can also arranged an electrode screen printing construct macroscopic networks that facilitate diffusion...
A new 1,4-dihydropyridine derivative, CS-905, currently under development as a Ca antagonist, showed gradual onset and long duration in its antihypertensive effect upon single oral administration. The partition coefficient for CS-905 was measured along with 11 known dihydropyridine antagonists by the HPLC method to clarify mode of action. log PHPLC was, 5.18, almost same that manidipine this value is highest among drugs. Its pharmacokinetic profile SHR also discussed.
Background The familial clustering of multinodular goitres (MNGs) with a dominant mode inheritance has been repeatedly reported. Linkage studies have revealed several genetic loci responsible for MNG; however, most the causative variants remain unknown. Methods and Results Through linkage analysis using single-nucleotide polymorphism markers, we identified new MNG locus on 19p13.2-q12 in five-generation Japanese family. Subsequent mutation searches focusing candidate 25-Mb region chromosome...
Treatment modalities for neonates with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) have greatly improved in recent years, a concomitant increase survival. However, long-term outcomes restrict the identification of optimal care pathways CDH survivors adolescence and adulthood. Therefore, we evaluated within Japanese Study Group (JCDHSG).Participants were born between 2006 2018 according to JCDHSG. Participants enrolled database at 1.5, 3, 6, 12 years old. Follow-up items included complications,...
Objectives: Our objective was to evaluate the short- and long-term safety efficacy of teduglutide treatment in infants children with short bowel syndrome intestinal failure (SBS-IF). Methods: Two open-label phase 3 studies 1 extension study investigated (0.05 mg/kg/day) SBS-IF: NCT03571516, 24-week who were randomized receive or standard care (SoC); NCT02980666, all received teduglutide; NCT03268811, patients completed NCT02980666 (patients could up 48 weeks total treatment). Results: Twelve...
