Cognitive reserve (CR) is a property of the brain that allows for better-than-expected cognitive performance relative to degree change over course life. However, neurophysiological markers CR remain under-investigated. Electroencephalography (EEG) features may function as suitable CR. To assess this, we investigated whether dorsal attention network (DAN) and ventral (VAN) activities, measured during resting-state EEG, moderate relationship between hippocampal volume episodic memory.

Aims For older adults with limited life space and activity, social participation in the neighborhood community is essential to ensure interaction activity levels. This study examined association between onset of disability different spaces activities. Methods The participants were 9513 from a cohort conducted at National Center for Geriatrics Gerontology Study Geriatric Syndromes (NCGG‐SGS). Social was assessed by participating meetings. Life activities evaluated using Activity Mobility...

Neurodegeneration and structural changes in the brain due to amyloid deposition have been observed even individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). EEG measurement is considered an effective tool because it noninvasive, has few restrictions on environment, simple easy use. In this study, we investigated neurophysiological characteristics of community-dwelling older adults MCI using EEG. Demographic characteristics, function, physical resting-state MRI electroencephalogram (rs-EEG),...

Abstract Background Cognitive reserve (CR) is a property of the brain trait that allows for better–than–expected cognitive performance, relative to degree change over life course. However, neurophysiological markers CR require further investigation. Electroencephalography (EEG) may provide an appropriate marker CR. Therefore, we tested whether activity in dorsal attention network (DAN) and ventral (VAN), as measured during resting–state EEG, moderates relationship between hippocampal volume...

Purpose: Sarcopenic obesity is a combination of sarcopenia and obesity, which associated with the onset disability. Fat to muscle ratio (FMR) screening measure that assesses mass fat mass. However, relationship between FMR disability has not been investigated. Methods: This study included 11,886 community-dwelling older adults aged ≥65 years enrolled in NCGG-SGS (National Center for Geriatrics Gerontology-Study Geriatric Syndromes), national cohort Japan. To diagnose sarcopenic Asian Working...

Background: A previous cross-sectional study suggested older drivers with subjective memory concerns (SMC) had significantly increased odds of experiencing car collisions. However, whether SMC in different contexts and the number applicable items change this association has not been examined. The aim was to examine between collisions among Japanese drivers. Methods: This conducted using data from a community-based cohort study, National Center for Geriatrics Gerontology-Study Geriatric...

The purpose of this study was to conduct a cross-sectional analysis the association between hearing aid use and cognitive decline in community-dwelling older adults with impairment, stratified by cardiovascular risk level. This covers 1857 hearing-impaired individuals selected among 10,674 (≥65 years age) Japan. We investigate level, assessing self-reported impairment use, absolute risk, function, potential confounding factors. severity increased benefit preventing decline, were examined...
