The occurrence of microplastics (MPs) in the environment is a matter increasing concern. In this work, it has been shown for first time that ICP-MS operated single-event mode can be used characterization MPs relying on their C content.
The use of CH3F as a reaction gas in tandem ICP-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS/MS) enables the accurate determination 87Sr/86Sr isotope ratio geological materials, provided that mass discrimination is corrected for by combination internal and external correction.
Abstract Whales accumulate mercury (Hg), but do not seem to show immediate evidence of toxic effects. Analysis different tissues (liver, kidney, muscle) and biofluids (blood, milk) from a pod stranded long-finned pilot whales ( Globicephala melas ) showed accumulation Hg as function age, with significant decrease in the MeHg fraction. Isotopic analysis revealed remarkable differences between juvenile adult whales. During first period life, liver became isotopically lighter (δ 202 decreased)...
In this review we discuss the novel developments in mass spectrometry-based analytical methods for size determination, chemical identification, and quantification of microplastic nanoplastic indoor air dust.
The combination of laser ablation and tandem ICP-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS/MS) allows for successful Sr isotopic analysis solid samples with high Rb/Sr ratios.
This work explores the possibilities of solid sampling high-resolution continuum source graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry for direct analysis carbon nanotubes. In particular, simultaneous determination Co, Fe, Ni and Pb is intended, as these elements are typically found in samples impurities. The results demonstrate that it possible to find spectral (monitoring region between 283.168 283.481 nm), (2500 °C atomization; use 100 ng Pd a chemical modifier) detector (use side pixels...
Methyl fluoride (a mixture of 10% CH3F and 90% He) was evaluated as a reaction gas in inductively coupled plasma-tandem mass spectrometry (ICPMS/MS) the context determination ultratrace concentrations medically relevant metals (Al, Co, Cr, Mn, Ni, Ti, V) blood serum urine. Via product ion scanning, whereby only ions mass-to-charge ratio target nuclide were admitted into octopole cell, various formed for each elements identified at different flow rates. Limits detection (LODs) quantification...
Liver and muscle tissue of tusks (Brosme brosme) have been analyzed for their THg MeHg concentrations Hg isotopic signatures tracing pollution along the Norwegian coast. Clear differences between types locations were established. At five eight locations, concentration in exceeded maximum allowable level 0.5 mg kg–1 wet weight. δ202Hg values both indicated that speciation affects bulk signature. Tusk liver seems to be more sensitive immediate changes anthropogenic inorganic Hg, while rather...
Abstract Photodynamic and photothermal cell killing at the surface of tissues finds applications in medicine. However, a lack control over heat dissipation following treatment with light might damage surrounding tissues. A new strategy to kill cells is reported. Polymeric films are designed which iron oxide nanoparticles embedded as photosensitizers. Irradiation pulsed laser generates water vapor bubbles films. It found that “bubble‐films” can close proximity due mechanical forces arise when...
Abstract Biolistic intracellular delivery of functional macromolecules makes use dense microparticles which are ballistically fired onto cells with a pressurized gun. While it has been used to transfect plant cells, its application mammalian met limited success mainly due high toxicity. Here we present more refined nanotechnological approach biolistic light-triggered self-assembled nanobombs (NBs) that consist photothermal core particle surrounded by smaller nanoprojectiles. Upon irradiation...
The application range of high-precision isotopic analysis for identifying the origin Hg in environmental compartments was extended to samples with lower concentrations levels by using faraday cup amplifiers higher ohmic resistance.
The development of an ICP-MS/MS method for interference-free Si determination allows chemical characterization SiO2nanoparticles.
This study describes an interlaboratory comparison (ILC) among nine (9) laboratories to evaluate and validate the standard operation procedure for single-particle (sp) ICP-TOFMS developed within context of Horizon 2020 project ACEnano.
In this work, different single-particle ICP-MS (SP-ICP-MS) approaches, relying on either chemical or physical resolution to overcome spectral overlap, have been assessed for their utility in the characterization of iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs).
